It’s Wednesday night and you know what that means!
Excalibur, Tony Schiavone and “The Human Suplex Machine” Taz greets the audiences at home.
MATCH #1: Dynamite Diamond Battle Royale:
We go to the ring with the Dynamite Diamond battle royale, and things get started straight away as everyone begins brawling with a lot of wrestlers also outside the ring supporting individuals inside it. Kip Sabian sidesteps Orange Cassidy, but he hangs on only for Sabian to bite his hands, but while he fights off, The Blade appears on the outside and eliminates him
Dustin Rhodes comes charging in straight after and eliminates Sabian with a huge clothesline as he then begins brawling with The Butcher, and he comes out on top by smashing the legend down to the floor with a lariat. Dalton Castle gets thrown to the ring apron as Brian Cage smashes him three times in a row only for The Boys to catch him each time. They move him to a different part of the ring, but this time Cage picks him up and throws him into The Boys to eliminate him.
Jungle Boy comes in after with a dropkick and he and Cage then brawl on the apron, but the smaller man launches himself from the top turnbuckle with a knee drop, and that takes out the bigger man who falls to the floor. The Butcher tries to eliminate Matt Hardy, but he can fight back and survive while Jungle Boy tries to attack Ethan Page until Lee Moriarty tries to make the save.
He gets fought away as Jungle Boy and Ricky Starks try to eliminate Page until Hardy makes the save. Starks then brawls with The Butcher as he charges and eliminates him, with Jungle Boy then taking out Moriarty, but he is taken out as well as W. Morrissey eliminates him from the outside and then Chokeslams him onto the ring apron. Page then demands Hardy raises his hand which he does, and they try to work together until Shawn Dean starts fighting back against them.
Dean DDT’s Page in the middle of the ring but the numbers game proves to be too much as they dump out Dean. Page and Hardy continue to argue as the Delete chants go wild, but he then attacks Starks with Page. Hardy looks for a Twist of Fate, but Starks reverses and sends him out as he then runs up the ropes to DDT Page. He misses with a Spear and eats a kick to the head though, but as Page tries to throw him out, Starks reverses for the win.
Winner: Ricky Starks
After the match: MJF heads out immediately as he thinks he knows why Bryan Danielson doesn’t want to turn up tonight, which is because he’s terrified of him. MJF says after what he did to William Regal he’d be scared too, as he claims to be a bad man, which is why he will be a four-time Diamond Ring holder and he will keep his title, Triple B. He notes that people like Ricky Starks, and he does say that he’s talented. However, the truth is that Starks is the absolute drizzling shits, as he then calls him a candy ass by claiming he has stolen everything from The Rock and that he is a dollar store, Dwayne.
MJF says he’s going to start calling Starks “The Pebble”. He claims next week he will put him in his pocket, he will drive him to the nearest water, and he will skip his ass back to NWA to wrestle on YouTube where he belongs. MJF doesn’t care that he is absolute, because he’s a generation talent and his reign of terror has just begun. Starks then shoulder barges him to get his microphone.
Starks calls him Maxi Pad and says he should’ve expected a fifth-rate Roddy Piper wannabee to come out, as he says the low-hanging fruit is running dry. He mocks MJF’s tan, his terrible haircut, and his shirt, and he tells MJF to give him a break if he thinks he’s better than him. Starks says everything about MJF screams cheap, and he has a responsibility as champion that he knows nothing about.
Starks believes he gave people a reason to keep going, but when fans believed in MJF he let them down as he did to Regal, yet he delivers on time every week. He has been here busting his ass and says MJF avoids pressure and responsibility, as Starks turns up to meet and greets while MJF blows it off. Stark says h was grinding when he lived in his car, and he says next week he will shut him up. He’s busted his ass on YouTube, and he doesn’t need a name, and next week he will slap the mole off MJF’s neck. He is going to take the responsibility off his plate next week, but as they staredown, MJF kicks him with a low blow. MJF then tries to use the ring, but he misses and eats a Spear as Starks holds up the AEW World Championship.
BACKSTAGE: Jon Moxley says he is starting to like Adam Page as he fell off his horse and got back on the and did the talking with his fists. Moxley says this is All Elite Wrestling, not All Elite Talking, he likes that, and this week he, Wheeler Yuta, and Claudio Castagnoli bring that back and this weekend they’re putting JAS in their rearview mirror, and if Page wants a piece he knows where to find him.
MATCH #2: AEW TNT Championship Match:
Samoa Joe © vs. Darby Allin
Darby Allin kickstarts using his speed to send Samoa Joe out of the ring, but the emotions get to him and as he launches himself out of the ring the champion just moves and Allin lands awkwardly on the barricade. Joe then continues the attack and uses Allin as a battering ram, launching him into the barricade and the ring apron several times. Joe continues to ragdoll Allin around as he exposes the concrete, but Allin breaks out of the situation only to run into a huge slam onto the concrete anyway.
Back inside the ring, Allin attempts several kicks to try to get back into the match, but a headbutt from Joe immediately puts him back down. He then runs Allin on the ring apron and throws him into the ring post which sends the challenger flying across the floor. Allin beats the 10 count only to be hit with the Manhattan Drop, a big boot, and then a senton but the younger star manages to kick out of the following pinfall attempt.
Joe then looks to dive outside but Allin gets back into the ring and then jumps on him. However, Joe catches him in mid-air, but Allin reverses and sends the champion into the steel stairs, following it up with a Coffin Drop to the outside which sends Joe down. Inside the ring, he connects with the Stunner and then a Code Red, and this time it is Joe kicking out.
Despite that flurry, Joe then plants Allin with an STO and then a major chop while Allin is on the top turnbuckle, but he fights back by biting his face and that sets up a Coffin Drop, but Joe counters straight into the Coquina Clutch as he fades away.
Winner: Samoa Joe
After the match: Allin gets up and wants more but he is dropped with a headbutt as he then gets his skateboard, flipping it upside down as he delivers a Muscle Buster which drops Allin onto the wheels. Joe locks in another submission and puts Allin to sleep again until Wardlow sprints down to the ring and forces the champion to back away.
BACKSTAGE: Orange Cassidy tells Kip Sabian if he wants a shot at the AEW All-Atlantic Championship, all he has to do is ask. Sabian says he has waited until he was attacked by Dustin Rhodes, he is hurt, and Cassidy tells him to find someone else who can challenge him this Friday.
MATCH #3: Tag Team Match:
Wheeler Yuta and Claudio Castagnoli vs. Jake Hager and Daniel Garcia
Jake Hager throws his purple hat to Claudio Castagnoli at the start, but he ends up kicking it into the crowd as the JAS star attacks Wheeler Yuta, who fires back with a chop of his own. Daniel Garcia then comes in and begins stomping down on his Final Battle opponent, but yet again Yuta fights back with chops. Castagnoli can tag in, and he begins working Hager, throwing him around with a hip toss.
Yuta returns with a double sledge to the elbow, and he then hits a big boot and a dropkick to the bigger man as he also takes down Garcia and then wipes them both out with a tope suicida. Sammy Guevara then provides a distraction though which allows Hager to slam Yuta down as he follows with a Hager Bomb which gets a near fall. However, Yuta can turn things around after Garcia tags in as he hits a superplex, but Hager then smashes Claudio off the apron to deny the tag as the JAS then distract the official to get some cheapshots in.
Yuta finally gets the hot tag after a German suplex to Garcia, and Castagnoli comes in firing uppercuts to his former WWE tag team partner. He follows that with a hurricanrana and then he goes for the Giant Swing, but Garcia jumps on his back and stops it. Castagnoli throws him to the mat with Yuta crashing down with a splash to take him out and then it’s Giant Swing time for Hager!
Guevara once again gets involved, but Jon Moxley attacks him. However, the distraction works as Hager can connect with an Ankle Lock, while Garcia sets Yuta into the Dragon Tamer at the same time, although Castagnoli sends Hager to break up the other submission, following it with an uppercut for the win.
Winners: Wheeler Yuta and Claudio Castagnoli
After the match: Tony Schiavone hits the ring, and he shows an interview he did with William Regal a few weeks ago. Regal says people will only see this if something bad happens to him, and he gave MJF what he wanted but the saying is to be careful what you wish for, as now everyone will be chasing him. He realized the three main members of BCC didn’t need him, but they wouldn’t let him go. They needed to do this to show them that they could make Yuta the best in the world. He says this was to teach the final thing he could, always stay one step ahead, and keep eyes in the back of your head. He says that it has been emotional, and he is Blackpool Combat Club for life.
Moxley says that all he knows is one thing for sure, the men in this ring live and breathe for the sport, and at Final Battle, the war is over, and on Friday he challenges any wrestler in the world to face him.
A House of Black video package airs as Malakai Black says the company is dying and has become sick by letting people corrupt it. He thinks it’s up to them to put that corruption down. Julia Hart says the crime is treason, and Buddy Mathews adds that the verdict is war. Brody King then says they will tear the meat from the bones as the sentence is extermination. Black adds if anyone has an issue with what they’ve done, next week…come one, come all.
BACKSTAGE: Jamie Hayter says it baffles her that she’s not had a sit-down interview. Tony Schiavone asks Hayter’s thoughts on the division, and she says it is interesting but she’s on top of the totem pole. She will do her duty to be reigning and defending, and she will be giving out a title shot to the winner this Friday. She’s a fighting champion, and a good one at that.
MATCH #4: Women’s Trios Match:
Jade Cargill, Red Velvet and Leila Grey vs. Madison Rayne, Kiera Hogan and Skye Blue
Jade Cargill opts to step aside for Red Velvet to start things off, but Skye Blue gets the best of her at the start, and then the two exchange several pinfall attempts. Blue turns her back and gets yanked down by her hair as Leila Grey comes in and keeps up the attack. Madison Rayne then tags and trips Grey as Blue hits a dropkick, but as Blue looks to keep going Velvet returns and she eats a thrust kick.
Blue tries to dive outside with a dropkick, but she gets trapped in the ring skirt and Velvet follows it with an attack. The heels continue to dominate as Velvet attacks Rayne on the apron as she keeps in control, but both women then hit thrust kicks at the same time leading to a double tag. Kiera Hogan tags in and so does Cargill, but the champion gets sent flying into the corner as Hogan follows it with a sliding boot and both of Cargill’s partners get sent to the floor.
She goes for a boot, but Cargill catches it and then just plants her to the mat. She looks for Jaded but it’s reversed as Rayne comes in and hits an enziguri, but her control doesn’t last as Cargill hits a back elbow and Jaded for the win.
Winners: Jade Cargill, Red Velvet and Leila Grey
BACKSTAGE: Saraya is then shown with Schiavone as Britt Baker immediately cuts her off and says that the win will never happen again. She says Saraya has had things handed to her, and she hands her tickets for the January 11 show as a challenge, which Saraya agrees to. Baker will be teaming up with Hayter and she tells Saraya to find a partner.
MAIN EVENT: AEW World Tag Team Championship Match:
Anthony Bowens and Max Caster © vs. Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler
Both teams get chanted for by the crowd as Cash Wheeler and Anthony Bowens go back and forth leading to a stalemate that goes down well. Both men then tag out, but it doesn’t take long for Bowens to come back in as he and Dax Harwood exchange chops and then go back and forth blocking moves. All four men then end up inside the ring and it becomes an all-out brawl.
The Acclaimed come out on top and then scissor for the fans as Max Caster blocks a Sharpshooter attempt and then looks for his own. Wheeler tries to stop it, but Bowens comes in and they both lock in the move with this leading to a brawl outside the ring as FTR send Caster into the ring apron and they catapult him into the apron and then do the scissoring pose themselves.
Back inside the ring, Wheeler delivers some big chops to Caster, and he then drops the champion with a short-arm lariat. Harwood comes back in with a snappy leg drop and a backdrop suplex as he makes another tag. Caster gets set to the top turnbuckle, but he fights back and then hits a diving crossbody to create a break, but Harwood comes in and tries to stop the tag, yet Caster makes it happen anyway.
Bowens charges in with quick punches for both men as he fires up and plants Wheeler to the mat and then drops Harwood with a thrust kick and a knee striker which gets a near fall. Bowens then clunks heads with Wheeler and Harwood goes for a roll-up, but it doesn’t get the job done and he is planted with a neck breaker which comes close. FTR then almost get the job done with a spiked piledriver, but the champion can kick out.
Caster then nails a Spear which leads to another near fall and The Acclaimed connect with a double team of their own which continues to push them coming close. The champions then go for another but Harwood rolls through and kicks Caster into his partner. They look for Big Rig, but it gets stopped by The Acclaimed, and that happens again when the champions try to hit that move.
However, FTR can finally hit it only for Bowens to break up the pinfall at the last second! Bowens then catches Wheeler in mid-air and slams him down to the mat, allowing Caster to go for the Mic Drop, but he crashes and burns. Bowens wipes out Harwood on the floor only to be slammed down face-first by Wheeler. Caster slaps him with a backhand but the FTR star levels Caster with a trio of big lariats and then a powerbomb, but as he goes for the pinfall Caster rolls through and reverses it, catching Wheeler out!
Winners: Anthony Bowens and Max Caster
After the match: The two teams show respect with hugs, and then they all scissor together. The Gunns is then shown backstage and say that they got FTR presents, which is a card from The Briscoes that says “Saturday – Final Battle” along with some dog collars as FTR get challenged to a Double Dog-Collar Match for the ROH World Tag Team Championships.
