AEW Dynamite results from August 10th 2022

It’s Wednesday night and you know what that means!

Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone, Excalibur and “The Human Suplex Machine” Taz are the broadcast team for tonight’s event.

MATCH #1: Coffin Match:
Brody King vs. Darby Allin
As King is making his entrance, Allin attacks him out of nowhere and a giant “Darby” chant erupts. Allin hits King with his skateboard and reveals that it’s covered in tacks as he then grates it across King’s face. The camera pans back and reveal King has tacks stuck all in his midsection. King manages to come back with a huge right hand and then he throws Allin into the barricade before breaking the skateboard in half. Allin dives off the ring steps onto King and throws him into the barricade.

Allin climbs to the top but King crotches him and climbs up with him. Allin rakes King’s eyes and hits a Super Code Red off the top! Allin pushes King out to the floor and drags to drag him to the coffin but can’t lift the much bigger man. King picks Allin up and slams him into the barricade repeatedly.

King puts Allin on a table on the floor and dives off the top with a Splash, but Allin moves causing the big man to eat the table. Allin sets up for a dive, but the lights go out and when they come back on Malakai Black and Buddy Matthews are standing in between Allin and King. Allin decides to dive onto them anyway, but Julia Hart trips him. Buddy hits the ring and attacks Allin and beats him down.

The House of Black lay Allin onto a table in the corner and King hits a Cannonball on him sending him through it. Buddy Matthews opens the Coffin, but Sting is laying in it! He attacks Matthews with his bat and throws him into the ring steps. Sting attacks King with the bat but then tosses the bat to Black and dares him to come at him. Black teases using it but retreats instead. Sting decides to go after Black as Allin hits a Tope Suicida onto King. Sting and Black come face-to-face on the ramp and King slams Allin into the ring steps.

King drags Allin onto the apron and tries to slam him onto the coffin but Allin managed to grab the chain that Brody King wears to the ring and blasts Brody with it. Allin literally hangs King with the chain over the ropes and when King passes out, Allin lets him go and he falls into the Coffin!

Winner: Allin

BACKSTAGE: Jon Moxley suggests they start calling his Championship the “FYI” belt since everyone keeps trying to throw the Interim at him every week. He says that belt was forced in Cincinnati and it’s about how much you can suffer when facing him. Moxley calls Jericho the last survivor of the Hart Dungeon and says he will break Jericho, whether it is his spirit or his body.

BACKSTAGE: Chris Jericho cuts a promo on Moxley and talks about bringing back “Lionheart” Chris Jericho tonight. He talks about Stu Hart and says he was a vicious, violent sadist and he says the pain that Stu put him through was something that he never wanted to think about again until tonight. He says you can heal a cut and fix a tooth but what he will do to Moxley tonight you can’t fix. He says he will stretch the shit out of Moxley.

The brackets for the AEW Trios Tag Team Championship Tournament are revealed. The Trustbusters will face Best Friends, House of Black faces Dark Order, Death Triangle faces Will Ospreay & Aussie Open and Andrade teams Rush and the debuting Dragon Lee against the Young Bucks and a mystery partner.

MATCH #2: Tornado Tag Team Match:
Rey Fenix and Penta El Zero M vs. Andrade El Idolo and Rush
Andrade and Rush attack the Lucha Bros as they get in the ring and Rush levels Penta with a Flying Knee and then suplexes Fenix into the turnbuckles. Penta catches Andrade with Slingblade and then exchanges chops with Rush. Rush hits a Roaring Elbow but eats a Superkick as he comes off the ropes. Rush rolls to the floor and Penta sets up for a dive but Andrade trips him. Fenix hits a dive onto Rush instead! Fenix then hits a Top con Giro on Andrade on the floor!

Penta hits Made in Mexico for two. Lucha Bros goes for the LB Driver but Andrade shoves Penta and dropkicks Fenix in midair. Rush hits a Snap Powerslam on Penta and then they toss Fenix on top of his brother for a nearfall. Rush and Andrade throw Lucha Bros to the floor and then they hit Stereo Somersault Planchas onto them on the floor!

Penta hits a series of kicks on LFI and hits a Diving DDT on Rush. Fenix hits a Double springboard armdrag/Hurricanrana combination on LFI! Penta hits the Backstabber out of the corner on Andrade for a nearfall. Penta then Cazadoras Fenix into a Splash for a nearfall. Lucha Bros Superkick Rush and then Fenix dives off Penta’s shoulders with a Splash for another nearfall!

Lucha Bros Superkick LFI and then hit Stereo Somersault Planchas onto them on the floor! Fenix tosses Andrade back in the ring and goes for a Frog Splash but Andrade gets his knees up and rolls Fenix up for two. Andrade goes for a Superkick, but Fenix ducks and he hits Rush! Andrade goes for La Sombra but Penta Superkicks him! Rush hits a shotgun dropkick on Penta and Andrade hits the Flying Knees in the corner but eats a springboard spinning back kick from Fenix. Fenix goes for a double spring Rana but Rush Powerbombs him in midair! Rush then turns around right into a Rolling Cutter from Penta!

Penta hits an enziguri on Rush and then hits a Mexican Destroyer on Andrade on the freaking apron! Fenix rolls Rush onto the apron and they go for a LB Driver but Andrade shoves Fenix off the top. LFI double teams Fenix in the ring as Rush actually ties Penta’s mask to the ropes. Rush hits a shotgun missile dropkick on Fenix and hits the Penta’s own Fear Factor! 1…2…NO Penta pulls off his own mask and breaks it up!

Alex tosses Penta another mask but Andrade takes it away and Jose takes out Alex out on the floor while inside the ring, Fenix rolls Andrade up for a nearfall but Rush breaks it up. Andrade threw Penta’s mask into the crowd. Rush hits the Bull’s Horns on Fenix and then Andrade hits La Sombra for the pin.

Winners: Andrade El Idolo and Rush

BACKSTAGE: The Young Bucks approach Hangman and Dark Order and they thank Page for helping them last week. They talk about when they were all a part of The Elite, and they apologize to Hangman. Matt talks about Hangman winning the World Championship in this building and they say they’re proud of him. Matt says everyone was right about them being bad people but when they are around Hangman, he brings the best in them. They ask him to be their partner in the Trios Tag Team Tournament, but Hangman breaks the news to them that he’s not going to be in the tournament because he wants to be in the Dark Order’s corner like they were in his corner when he was going after the AEW World Championship. He tells them they should have a partner that won’t turn his back on them.

MATCH #3: One-On-One Match:
Luchasaurus vs. Anthony Henry
Jungle Boy joins the commentary before the match begins. Luchasaurus attacks Henry and hits a big German suplex. Henry fights back with an enziguri but Lucha headbutts him and hits the Fossilizer for the pin.

Winner: Luchasaurus

After the match: Christian Cage appears on the screen and says he would come out and slap the shit out of Jungle Boy but the people in Minneapolis don’t deserve to see him in person. Jungle Boy leaves the announce table and heads to the back to attack Christian only for security to hold him. Luchasaurus yeets all the security guards away but Christian runs away. Producer Pat Buck tries to stop them but eats a headbutt from Luchasaurus.

BACKSTAGE: Julia Hart tries to recruit Miro, but he says only one woman can touch the Redeemer and she is not it. He says that he will destroy the House of Black.

BACKSTAGE: The Factory approaches Powerhouse Hobbs and tells him they will take care of Ricky Starks for him tonight. Hobbs tells them not to make their problem become his and walks away.

Jay Lethal and his squad make their way to the ring and Sonjay Dutt brags about what they did to Wardlow at Battle of the Belts. Sonjay says they aren’t done with Wardlow and Lethal says that Wardlow will defend the TNT Championship against him again or they will come find him and take it. Wardlow comes out and agrees to the match but in the meantime says he’s beating all their asses. FTR then comes out and joins Wardlow in going after Lethal and his crew. FTR and Wardlow beat Lethal down and then Lethal’s crew retreats.

BACKSTAGE: Schiavone interviews JAS and they talk about the celebration they are going to have after Jericho wins tonight. Garcia says he put Danielson to sleep, and he owns him. He calls himself the “Dragon Slayer” and Anna Jay attacks a random woman that was standing nearby.

A vignette highlights the history between Aaron Solo and Ricky Starks including pictures and video of them teaming on the Indies.

MATCH #4: One-On-One Match:
Aaron Solo vs. “Absolute” Ricky Starks
Solo tries to attack Starks as he makes his entrance, but Starks cuts him off and hits a Flying Forearm and a backdrop. Starks is tripped by Cole Karter on the outside allowing Solo to hit a clothesline. Karter is kicked out from ringside by the referee but Solo uses the opening to beat Starks down in the corner. Starks tries to fight back with a Jawbreaker and a Tornado DDT. Starks hits a Mafia Kick and goes for the Roshambo. Solo counters with a Rana and goes for a Corkscrew Kick but Starks ducks and hits the Spear for the pin.

Winner: “Absolute” Ricky Starks

After the match: Nick Comoroto tries to attack Starks, but Starks sees him coming and throws Solo into Comoroto before escaping. The rest of the Factory goes after him, but Starks manages to retreat through the crowd. A pissed off Hobbs is shown breaking a TV backstage.

BACKSTAGE: Lexy Nair interviews the Gunn Club and Billy asks them how they could ruin the only match he ever made famous in one night. Stokely Hathaway approaches Billy’s sons and tries to recruit them but a pissed off Billy tells him to back off. Danhausen walks up and says that he and the “big bearded fellow” will face them on Rampage.

BACKSTAGE: Trust Busters approach Best Friends and Daivari is trying to recruit Orange Cassidy to their group. OC refuses and Daivari tells him they will learn what happens when someone refuses him.

MATCH #5: TBS Championship Match:
Jade Cargill © vs. Madison Rayne
Jade ragdolls Madison and taunts her size. Jade beats Madison down in the corner but misses a shoulder block allowing Madison to hit a missile dropkick. Jade rolls to the floor and Madison goes for a Punt Kick off the apron. Jade ducks it and lifts Madison up on her shoulders only for Madison to reverse it into a hurricanrana sending Jade into the barricade. Hogan distracts Rayne allowing Jade to spear her as she gets back in the ring.

Jade hits a delayed vertical suplex for two but Madison answers with a Jawbreaker and an enziguri. Rayne hits an hangman’s neckbreaker and goes to the top and hits a Blockbuster for two. Madison puts Jade in a Guillotine and when Jade tries to lift her up; Madison spikes her with a DDT for a nearfall. Hogan gets on the apron and Madison ducks a Pump Kick from Jade causing her to kick Hogan. Madison rolls Jade up for two but Jade nails her with the Pump Kick. Jade goes for Jaded but Madison counters into an attempt at Cross Rayne only for Jade to counter right back into Jaded for the pin.

Winner: Jade Cargill

After the match:  Athena attacks Jade from behind but Hogan pulls Jade to safety.

BACKSTAGE: Tony Schiavone is with AEW Women’s Champion Thunder Rosa and her tag team partner Toni Storm when Tony announces that Kris Statlander who was the #1 contender to the AEW Women’s Championship has been injured and that Toni Storm is the now the NEW #1 contender to Rosa’s AEW Women’s Championship.

It was also revealed that “The Dragon Slayer” Daniel Garcia will face “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson in a 2 out of 3 Falls Match next week on Dynamite!

MAIN EVENT: AEW Interim World Championship Match:
“Death Rider” Jon Moxley © vs. “Lionheart” Chris Jericho
They went all out with the “Lionheart” entrance. Jericho has his old Lionheart gear and vest on, and they are using footage of his NJPW career on the entrance video. His entrance music is also the music he used in Japan and ECW. Jericho flips off Moxley before the match and Moxley answers in kind. Jericho catches Moxley with a series of Armdrags to frustrate Moxley. Moxley and Jericho chain wrestle until Jericho attempts the Liontamer only for Moxley to use his legs to flip Jericho. Jericho takes Moxley down and puts him in a modified Octopus as Excalibur points out that Jericho trained in Llave submission wrestling in Mexico when he wrestled for CMLL.

Moxley manages to escape a Jericho submission and they exchange kicks. Jericho then grabs Moxley’s earring and snatches it out of his ear! Jericho hits a Springboard Dropkick knocking Moxley to the floor.

Moxley’s ear is a bloody mess, but he manages to hit a King Long Lariat out of nowhere. Jericho and Moxley exchange forearms and uppercuts but Jericho counters a Lariat into a Butterfly Backbreaker. Jericho goes for the Lionsault for two, but Moxley catches him in a Cross Armbreaker out of nowhere. Jericho rolls over and elbows Moxley in the face repeatedly. Jericho counters Moxley into another submission only for Moxley to trip him and put him in an Ankle Lock!

Jericho uses his other foot to kick Moxley and goes for a clothesline but Moxley ducks and hits a German suplex. Jericho gets back up and hits one of his own. Jericho hits a series of clotheslines on Moxley in the corner and lifts him to the top rope. Jericho hits the Frankensteiner off the top for two. Jericho pulls Moxley’s leg to the outside and slams it into the ring post repeatedly. He puts Moxley in a Hanging Figure Four around the ring post.

In the ring, Jericho goes for a clothesline, but Moxley catches him in a Fujiwara Armbar and transitions into a Crossface. Jericho almost taps out but manages to roll through and then counters into the Walls of Jericho.

During the break, Moxley managed to roll back over elbow Jericho in the face to try and break the hold. Jericho stomped Moxley’s face and locked it right back in, though. Moxley finally manages to get to the ropes to break the hold and Jericho flips out. Jericho goes for a Springboard Cross Body attempt, but Moxley moves and Jericho crashes on the floor. Moxley dives off the top with a Plancha onto Jericho!

Jericho goes up top and dives right into a Codebreaker in midair! 1…2…NO Moxley kicks out! Jericho pulls off a turnbuckle pad and Sammy Guevara throws his bat to Jericho, who then hits Moxley with it. He covers Moxley and gets a nearfall. Sammy actually overthrew the bat and Jericho had to go to the floor to get it making the referee look like a moron as she stumbled around trying to fix the turnbuckles. Jericho shoves Moxley into the exposed turnbuckle and hits the Judas Effect! 1…2…NO Moxley kicks out! Jericho grabs the AEW Championship belt, but Moxley moves, and Jericho hits the buckle. Moxley puts Jericho in the Sleeper and then transitions into the Bulldog Choke. Jericho rolls Moxley over and elbows him in the face. Jericho locks in the Liontamer! It’s the Liontamer! Jericho’s face is busted open from hitting the turnbuckle.

Moxley pulls Jericho down into a choke and then elbows him in the back of the head repeatedly and locks in a Rear Naked Choke! Jericho fights it but finally taps.

Winner: Jon Moxley

After the match: Sammy Guevara and Jake Hager run down and attack Moxley, but Kingston, Claudio, Ortiz and Wheeler Yuta run out to even the odds. The rest of JAS run out and beat down the rest of BCC and Kingston. Jericho goes to hit Moxley with the World Championship belt, but CM Punk’s music hits and the building EXPLODES!

Punk attacks JAS and helps BCC clean house. The fans are absolutely losing their minds. BCC leaves the ring and leaves Punk and Moxley to come face-to-face. Punk looks down at the AEW Interim World Championship belt and Moxley flips him off before leaving as Punk smirks at him.
