AEW Dynamite results from September 7th 2022

It’s Wednesday night and you know what that means!

Excalibur, Tony Schiavone and “The Human Suplex Machine” Taz was the broadcast team for tonight’s event.

AEW Dynamite kicks off from the KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York in what is a highly anticipated episode for a variety of reasons including the fate of the AEW World and Trios Championships!

We cut to a recap of the MJF return at All Out! We hear the Tony Khan voicemail, strung along with clips of the ladder match. The Devil himself is back indeed!

Tony Khan has an announcement as a chorus of boos from the crowd. The AEW World Championship is officially vacated! As well as the Trios Championships; with the Best Friends vs. Death Triangle for the Trios Championships tonight! We have a tournament in order to decide the NEW AEW World Champion! It includes Bryan Danieslon, “Hangman” Adam Page, Chris Jericho, Darby Allin, Sammy Guevara, and Jon Moxley. All of this is leading up to Grand Slam at Arthur Ashe!

Tony says, “I promise you that tonight is going to be a great night of professional wrestling and AEW will be at our very best these next few weeks on the road to AEW Grand Slam. Thank you again.”

MJF then makes his entrance, MJF asks the crowd who’s excited to see him, MJF says that the greatest quarterback of all time is from Buffalo, MJF says that the last time we saw him, he said some offensive stuff, MJF says that he didn’t mean it and he was just kidding, MJF says that he loves AEW and that he will never leave, MJF says that without the fans there’s no him, MJF says that he deserves the championship, MJF says that Tony is paying him alot of money, MJF says that AEW needs leadership, MJF says that he’s going to win the AEW World Championship, Jon Moxley then makes his entrance, Moxley says that MJF is full of crap, MJF says that Buffalo has the worst team in football history, MJF says that Moxley went to sleep on Sunday, MJF says that he will take the championship to the other wrestling company with real wrestling fans and wrestlers like Cody Rhodes, MJF says that he can work for a real Kahn, MJF says that’s what’s best for business, Moxley then tells MJF to leave the ring or he will make him leave, MJF then retreats up the ramp, Moxley says that MJF’s theme music sucks, Moxley says that he’s pissed off and embarrassed, Moxley says that the AEW championship represents passion from the fans and the wrestlers in the back, Moxley says that the AEW World Championship represents slaying demons, Moxley says that he makes mistakes and that he got pinned on Sunday, Moxley says that the ace always wants the ball and he wants the ball, Moxley says that this is time to be a legend.

MATCH #1: AEW World Trios Championship Match:
Penta El Zero Miedo, Rey Fenix and PAC vs. Orange Cassidy, Trent Beretta and Chuck Taylor
The match starts off with Penta and Cassidy, Penta then lands a kick to the stomach of Cassidy, Cassidy then hits a tilt-a-whirl headscissiors on Penta, The Best Friends then launch Cassidy into Death Triangle on the outside as we go to commercial break.

We are back from commercial as we see Pac hit a leg drop on Trent, Fenix then hits a low dropkick on Trent, Trent then stomps Pac down to the mat, Cassidy then hits a hurricanrana on both Penta and Fenix, Pac then stomps away at Cassidy in the corner, Pac then kicks Danhausen on the outside, Cassidy then hits a tope suicida on Pac, followed by a crossbody and a tornado DDT, Cassidy then hits the stundog millionaire on Pac, Penta then hits a backstabber on Chuck, Trent then hits a tornado DDT on Fenix, Cassidy then hits a German suplex on Pac, Cassidy then hits the orange punch on Penta, Death Triangle then hits a triple superkick, followed by a triple Canadian destroyer, Penta then flies over the top rope, taking out Cassidy and Trent, Pac then hits the black arrow on Chuck to secure the pinfall victory.

MATCH #2: Women’s One-On-One Match:
Toni Storm vs. Penelope Ford
The match starts off with Penelope taking Toni down with a headlock takeover, Toni then hits a shoulder tackle on Penelope, Toni then dropkicks Penelope into the corner, Toni then hits a baseball slide kick to the face of Penelope, Penelope then sends Toni into the steel steps as we go to commercial break.

We are back from commercial as we see Penelope hit a suplex on Toni, Toni then hits a running hip attack on Penelope in the corner, followed by a DDT to secure the pinfall victory.

Winner: Toni Storm

The Acclaimed come out but they are interrupted by Swerve Strickland, Swerve says that The Acclaimed as AEW World Tag Team Champions is a joke, Billy says that this is daddy ass’s house, Bowens says that at Grand Slam it’s The Acclaimed vs Swerve In Our Glory.

BACKSTAGE: Chris Jericho says that in 2022, Jericho found the fountain of youth, Jericho says that’s why he was able to beat Bryan on Sunday, Jericho says that he’s the greatest wrestler of all time and the greatest sports entertainer, Jericho says that he’s going to beat Danielson next week, Jericho says that AEW is his company and this is his locker room, Sammy Guevara says that he’s going to beat Darby Allin on Friday, Jericho says that he believes Daniel Garcia will win tonight because he believes in him.

MATCH #3: TNT Championship Match:
Wardlow © vs. Tony Nese
The match starts off with Wardlow headbutting Nese, Wardlow then hits three powerbombs on Nese to secure the pinfall victory.

Winner: Wardlow

After the match: Wardlow attempts to powerbomb Smart Mark Sterling, but Josh Woods pulls him away, Wardlow says that this is Wardlow’s world.

MATCH #4: Quarter-Final Match in the Tournament of Champions:
Bryan Danielson vs. “Hangman” Adam Page
The match starts off with both men locking up, Bryan then slaps the chest of Page in the corner before retreating, both men then exchange a series of chops to the chest, both men then exchange a series of chops, kicks, and forearms in the corner, Page then hits a springboard clothesline, knocking Bryan off of the apron, Bryan then sends Page shoulder first into the ring post as we go to commercial break.

We are back from commercial as we see both men exchange a series of chops, Page then hits a fallaway slam on Bryan, Page then hits a crossbody to the outside, taking out Bryan, Page then hits a death valley driver on Bryan to secure a near fall, Bryan then hits two corner dropkicks on Page, followed by a hurricanrana and a kick to the side of Page’s head, Bryan then lands a series of kicks to the arm of Page, followed by a sidekick to the head of Page, Page then hits a fallaway slam on Bryan from the top rope to secure a near fall, Bryan then rolls to the outside as we go to commercial break.

We are back from commercial as we see both men exchange a series of chops, Page then hits a sit-down powerbomb on Bryan to secure a near fall, Bryan then lands a series of kicks on the chest of Page in the corner, followed by a corner dropkick, Page then hits a lariat on Bryan to secure a near fall, Bryan then locks in the LeBell lock but Page fights out of it, Page then lands a series of knee strikes to the head of Bryan, both men then exchange a series of roaring elbows, Page then hits the deadeye on Bryan to secure a near fall, Page then powerbombs Bryan into the apron, followed by a moonsault from the second rope, Bryan then rolls up Page to secure the pinfall victory.

Winner: Bryan Danielson

An agent tells Stokely Hathaway that his time is limited, Stokely then hits the agent with the microphone, W. Morrissey then hits a big boot to the face of the agent.

MAIN EVENT: ROH Pure Championship Match:
Wheeler Yuta © vs. Daniel Garcia
The match starts off with both men locking up, Garcia then takes down Yuta with a shoulder tackle, Yuta then twists the ankle of Garcia, both men then lock up and fall to the outside of the ring as we go to commercial break.

We are back from commercial as we see Yuta hit an enziguri on Garcia, both men then exchange a series of chops, Yuta then hits a snap suplex on Garcia, Garcia then hits a back suplex on Yuta, followed by a clothesline to secure a near fall, Yuta then hits three German suplexes on Garcia, Garcia then hits three German suplexes on Yuta, Yuta then hits two German suplexes on Garcia, Yuta then hits two more German suplexes on Garcia, Garcia then hits a German suplex on Yuta from the second rope as we go to commercial break.

We are back from commercial as we see both men exchange a series of slaps, Garcia then locks in the dragon tamer on Yuta but Yuta Is able to reach the bottom rope, Garcia then locks in the dragon tamer once again, Yuta taps out, giving Garcia the submission victory.

Winner and NEW ROH Pure champion: Daniel Garcia

After the match: Yuta shakes Garcia’s hand, Bryan Danielson heads down to the ring, grabs the Pure Championship to wrap around the waist of Garcia, Jericho then stares down Bryan and Garcia from the entrance ramp as Dynamite goes off the air.
