IMPACT – Over Drive results from 11-18-2022

Kickoff Match #1: Six-Way X-Division Match:
Kenny King vs. Yuya Uemura vs. Bhupinder Gujjar vs. Jason Hotch vs. “Speedball” Mike Bailey vs. Rich Swann
All six battled at the bell. King tossed Bailey to the floor, so the other four jumped him and tossed him to the floor. Swann and Gujjar dropkicked Gotch and Umera out of the ring, then battled each other. Bailey and King returned and battled. Hotch took out Bailey. He and Yuya battled. Swann and Gujjar returned to the fray but were nailed with stereo dropkicks. Yuya nailed a belly to back suplex on Swann. Gujjar cut him off with a kick. Yuya came back with a back suplex for a two. He went to the top, but Hotch kicked him off to the floor and nailed a dive to the outside. King nailed Hotch but Gujjar dropkicked them both off the apron and nailed a dive of his own. Swann ducked and Bailey moonsaulted over him to the floor. Swann then hit a Phoenix splash off the top to the floor, wiping out the pile.

Hotch and Swann battled in the ring. Yuy got involved. Hotch nailed a neckbreaker on both. Hotch nailed a stomp on Swann and nailed a swinging backbreaker. Gujjar broke up the pinfall attempt and battled Hotch. Gujjar nailed a superkick on Hotch and drilled Gujjar with a Samoan Drop. Gujjar was setting up a move on Hotch, but Bailey hit Ultima Weapon on them both. King attacked Bailey and knocked him out of the ring. Swann returned to the ring. King backed off, leaving Swann to nail the springboard cutter for the pin on Hotch. The story was King was happy to screw Bailey out of the win, even if he didn’t get it for himself.

Winner: Rich Swann

They aired a video package on Moose vs. Bully Ray.

Kickoff Match #2: #1 Contender’s Match to the IMPACT World Tag Team Championships:
Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley vs. Chris Bey and Ace Austin
Sabin started with Bey, grappling back and forth. Austin nailed a big dropkick but Shelley blind-tagged in and grabbed a sleeper from behind. Bey tried to get involved but was tossed to the floor. The Guns controlled Austin for some time. Austin caught Sabin in the ropes and drilled him with a knee strike. Bey tagged in and continued the offense against Sabin. Bey locked on a front facelock and controlled him on the mat.

Austin and Shelley tagged in and battled. Shelley controlled him with chops. Bey hit the ring but Shelley controlled both of their arms, snapping them. Bey was clotheslined over the top, but Shelley was caught with a pump kick. That allowed Bey to smash Shelley into the apron outside and dumped him back into the ring. Austin cinched in a front chancery and nailed a suplex. Shelley was worked over by Bullet Club for some time. Shelley finally made the hot tag with Sabin cleaning house. Sabin nailed a body press off the top. The Guns hit stereo German suplexes. The Guns used a Magic Killer, scoring a two count on Bey. Some nice dives and near falls. The Guns finally reverse a pinfall with Shelley pinning Bey.

Winners: Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin

Over Drive begins with Bully Ray and Moose in a Tables Match!

MATCH #1: Tables Match:
Bully Ray vs. Moose
They went nose to nose at the bell, talking trash. Moose low blowed Bully as he took off the chain he wears to the ring. Moose speared him. He pulled a table out from under the ring and placed it inside. He then retrieved a second table. He placed a table in the corner but turned into Ray spearing him. Moose went to the floor but Ray, still hobbled by the low blow, followed. He went after Moose but was sent into the ring post. Moose attempted to suplex through the timekeeper’s table, but Ray reversed the suplex on the floor.

Back in the ring, Ray drilled him with a headbutt to the groin, getting revenge for earlier. Ray set up the table, but Moose drilled him with a chair from behind. He smashed Ray over and over across the back. Ray nailed a back suplex. Ray nailed several chairs across the back. Moose blocked an attempted Uranage through the table and kicked Ray with a big boot to the face. Ray elbowed Moose as he charged. Ray went to the ropes, but Moose dropkicked him while he was atop the buckles. Moose climbed the corner, but Ray grabbed him and came off with a sit-out Bubbabomb into the ring. The crowd chanted, “This is awesome.” They slugged it out in the center of the ring. Moose blocked a Bullybomb. He went for a double jump moonsault but Ray nailed a cutter.

Ray charged and went for a tackle into the table, but Moose moved, and Ray crashed through. Moose demanded to be named the victor, but the referee said no, because Bully put himself through the table. They battled back and forth until Moose was speared through a table.

Winner: Bully Ray

Gia Miller interviewed Traci Brooks via Zoom. Traci said they came home to be with family and watch the show. They support Kazarian and no matter what happens, they are so happy and proud of him. Their son cheered on his dad.

MATCH #2: Knockouts World Tag Team Championship Match:
Taya Valkyrie and Jessicka © vs. Tasha Steelz and Savannah Evans
Taya and Tasha begin the match. Jessicka tagged in and they double teamed Steelz. Jessicka nailed a big side slam for a two count. Tasha tagged in and went face to face with Jessicka. They grabbed each other by the throat and began firing back and forth with big shots. Evans was slammed and hit with an Atomic Legdrop for a two count. The Champions nailed a double elbow with Taya scoring a two count on Evans. Evans came back with a big boot to the face and began beating Taya down with big right hands. With Taya having been beaten down, Steelz tagged back in and worked over Taya. She sent her into the corner and nailed a big running elbow. She followed up with a dropkick for a two count.

Evans tagged back in, but Taya finally scored with a big clothesline. Steelz attacked Jessicka to prevent a tag. The challengers stomped the hell out of Taya as the referee kept Jessicka from entering the ring. Jessicka finally made the hot tag and worked over Steelz, including a big slam. Evans hit the ring but was nailed down to the mat. Jessicka sit a crossbody on them both at the same time while they were in a sitting position. Steelz covered Tasha but Evans broke it up. Taya got into it with Savannah and knocked her to the floor. Steelz nailed a rolling forearm to Taya. Jessicka caught her with the Sick Driver and scored the pin.

Winners: Taya Valkyrie and Jessicka

BACKSTAGE: Chris Bey and Ace Austin told the Guns that when they come back, they’ll be looking for them. The Guns said when they come back; they can have a shot at the World Tag Team Championships. The Major Players heard this and said that they will be the ones winning the Championships and it will happen tonight.

MATCH #3: Knockouts One-On-One Match:
Mickie James vs. Taylor Wilde
The crowd booed when it was announced James would retire if she lost the match.

There’s a feeling out process early.

Taylor took control and worked over James with a side headlock down on the mat. Taylor controlled the match early on. James blocked a hip toss and nailed a monkey flip. They went for dropkicks at the same time and faced off. They grappled and hit the ropes. Wilde was sent to the floor due to the momentum of the grappling. James held the ropes open for her to return but Wilde snatched her legs and pulled her to the floor. Wilde drilled James’ back into the corner of the apron outside, then followed up, doing it again. Wilde tied her in a bow and arrow variation but was almost counted down on the mat herself. James fought back and whipped Wilde into the corner hard. James made a comeback, and they battled back and forth with right hands. James went for a kick, but Taylor ducked and drilled her lower back. James was sent into the ropes and rebounded with the Lou Thesz Press. She followed up with a neckbreaker. James went to set Wilde up for her DDT, but Wilde avoided it and went for a Death Valley Driver. James turned it into a sunset flip, and they went back and forth with pinfall attempts. James nailed a Flapjack and ascended to the top rope.  Wilde cut her off on the top and attempted a superplex. James fought her off and shoved Wilde back into the ring. James came off the top but missed. Wilde nailed her with a kick and nailed the Wilde Ride. James kicked up at the last second but was immediately snatched into a Camel Clutch. James forced her way out and nailed a knee strike. Wilde blocked the Mick Kick but was finally hit with the DDT for the pin.

Winner: Mickie James

After the match: Deonna Purrazzo made her way to the ring. She blamed James for disrupting her historic Knockouts Championship reign and now had to ruin her best friend (Chelsea Green). She said Mickie is hell-bent to ruin her career. She’s not looking to ruin Mickie’s career. She’s looking to end it.

MATCH #4: IMPACT World Tag Team Championship Match:
Heath and Rhino © vs. Matt Cardona and Brian Myers
Rhino and Myers started out. Myers caught him with several kicks but was shoulder blocked down. Cardona got involved but Rhino ended up posting them both. Heath tagged in and was worked over. He was sent to the floor, where Cardona nailed a big clothesline on the floor. Heath was worked over for a long time by the challengers as Cardona and Myers tagged in and out. Heath fought his way out but before he could make the tag, Myers attacked him. Heath kicked away but was taken back down again. Heath kept kicking out.

Heath finally was able to get to make the tag, but Cardona pulled Rhino off the apron. The Motor City Machine Guns came out to watch the match at ringside. Cardona and Myers continued to control Heath. Heath finally nailed a jawbreaker, but Cardona caught him with a boot and knocked Rhino off the apron again. Cardona was distracted by the Guns, allowed Heath to knock him to the floor. Rhino made the hot tag with some big offense. He nailed a massive belly to belly on Myers and called for Gore. Cardona distracted him, allowing Myers to nail a Flatliner for a two count. Heath made the save at the last second. He tossed Cardona to the floor. Cardona grabbed a chair, but the Guns stopped him. Rhino gored Myers and scored the pin.

Winners: Heath and Rhino

The Motor City Machine Guns are next up for the IMPACT World Tag Team Championships

BACKSTAGE: Gia Miller interviewed Bully Ray. He was asked if his full focus was on calling his shot. He said he should be in the hotel icing himself after the fight that Moose brought him but instead he’s going to sit himself at the monitors in the locker room to see the main event. He said it could be Frankie walks out the champion. He doesn’t know why Kazarian has an issue with him. He’s going to do this the right way.  He’s going to call his shot. He wishes the main eventer’s well but eventually; they are going to face him.

MATCH #5: Finals of the X-Division Championship Tournament:
Black Taurus vs. Trey Miguel
Some nice back and forth action early. Miguel went for a lucha armdrag off the ropes, but it was blocked. They went back and forth, trying to take each other down before going for dropkicks and facing off. Taurus nailed a big backbreaker for a two count. He controlled Miguel for some time and scored another close near fall with a big powerslam. There were back and forth chants for each man. Taurus tied up Miguel on the mat, then lifted him off the mat, spinning him around before slamming him back down but Miguel made it to the ropes to force the break. Taurus kept scoring near falls. Miguel fought back but was hit with a pop-up Samoan Drop for a two count.

Taurus beat Miguel in the corner with hard chops, but Miguel finally began drilling him back, nailing a dropkick to the back. Miguel nailed a charging forearm in the corner and followed up with several more.  He drilled Taurus with the running Meteora for a two count. Miguel continued the assault, but Taurus fired back with some stiff shots and after a charging headbutt, both were down. The crowd chanted, “This is awesome.” Taurus attempted Destination Hellhole, but Miguel turned it into a Code Red for a two count. He followed up with an enziguri for another two count. Taurus was sent up and over in the corner. They battled on the top. Taurus nailed a press slam off the top into the ring for a CLOSE two count. Taurus was sent to the floor, where Miguel nailed a leaping rana to the floor. Miguel came off the top with a Meteora into the ring for another close near fall. The battle continued. Miguel nailed a Poisonrana over the ropes to the floor. He went for the Rebound Hurricanrana but Taurus blocked and powerbombed him into the ring post.

Taurus dumped him back in the ring, but Miguel tossed something away. The referee went to remove it, allowing Miguel to spray paint Taurus in the face. He hit the Lightning Spiral and scored the pin.

Winner and NEW IMPACT X-Division Champion: Trey Miguel

They showed Frankie Kazarian preparing for the main event.

Josh Alexander was backstage with his wife.

MATCH #6: Last Knockout Standing Match for the Knockouts World Championship:
Jordynne Grace

They went nose to nose at the bell, staring each other down before slugging it out.  They battled to the floor where Grace nailed several knee strikes and kicks, focusing on Slamovich’s leg. Grace suplexed her over, holding Masha up for a delayed execution. They brawled on the floor and up the entrance ramp with Masha gaining control. They returned to the ring where Masha nailed a fisherman’s buster and continued working over Grace.

Grace made a comeback and went back after the legs, suplexing her in a way they snapped into the ropes, Masha was counted down but returned to her feet at nine. Grace drilled her and knocked her back to the mat. Grace nailed her with a shin breaker and grabbed several chairs from under the ring. She nailed a Dragon Screw Legwhip on Grace. Grace nailed a series of strikes, but Masha fired back. Masha went for a Death Valley Driver, but Grace turned it into a sunset flip and attacked the leg again. Grace powerbombed her across two chairs that were set up back-to-back. The referee began counting her down.

Masha made it to her feet, but Grace drilled her with some of the remnants of one of the chairs. Masha fought to her feet. Grace went for another shinbreaker but Masha pummeled her with elbows. Masha nailed an Air Raid Crash through a chair sitting in the corner. There are some damn brutal bumps in this sucker. Masha made it back to her feet. They beat the hell out of each other with strikes and kicks. Masha was hit with a vertebreaker onto a trash can. Somehow, she survived that.

They battled back and forth, and Grace locked her in a figure four as they rolled back and forth, reversing the momentum. They rolled under the ropes to the apron and Slamovich was sent to the floor, hanging while still in the hold. Grace said she’s not getting up. Masha was able to get back up at nine. Jordynne went for the Grace Driver on the floor but was shoved into the apron. Masha nailed a reverse piledriver on the floor. Grace made it to her feet to beat the count.

Masha pulled a door out from under the ring and bridged it from the ring apron to a trash can. She smashed a toilet seat over Grace’s back. Masha wanted to put her through the door. Grace fought back but was shoved into the ring post face-first. Masha pulled her up to the apron and attempted a piledriver through the door.  Grace escaped and set up for a muscle buster off the apron through the door, which looked INSANELY painful.

Masha couldn’t answer the 10 count.

Winner: Jordynne Grace

This was an absolutely great FIGHT.  Masha and Grace are just killing it lately.

MAIN EVENT: IMPACT World Championship Match:
“The Walking Weapon” Josh Alexander © vs. Frankie Kazarian
They locked up and grappled with a lot of intensity, crashing through the ropes to the floor. They returned to the ring and went back and forth with some really nice wrestling. Alexander worked over Kazarian’s arm. Kazarian took over, locking Alexander’s arm up and controlling him down on the mat. They battled back and forth. Alexander finally caught Kazarian with a big German suplex, then repeated the feat. They battled to the floor, where Kazarian cut off Alexander with a big clothesline.

Alexander nailed a slingshot leg drop for a two count. Kazarian beat down Alexander’s back and suplexed him again for a two count.    Kazarian worked over Alexander but was caught with a kick to the head. Kazarian nailed a slingshot leg drop for a two count. Kazarian went for a move, but Alexander escaped and nailed another German suplex. He charged Kazarian but was caught with a big overhead belly to belly, exploding into the buckles.

Alexander fought back and went for the C4 Spike, but Kazarian battled against it. Alexander adjusted and nailed a butterfly suplex.  He nailed a big body drop and peppered Kazarian with forearms. He sent Kazarian into the ropes, launching him with another pair of German suplexes when Kazarian rebounded. Then a third. More and more suplexes. Ten in all. Kazarian endured all that and went for the Cross Face Chicken Wing. Alexander escaped and whipped Kazarian into the ropes but drilled the referee by accident.

They continued battling. Kazarian went for a leaping DDT over the ropes into the apron but the way they landed, Alexander looked as if he caught himself on the corner of the apron and crashed down in front of his family. Kazarian grabbed the IMPACT World Championship belt, but Alexander’s wife was yelling at him not to do this in front of Josh’s son. Conflicted, he returned the Championship to the timekeeper. He tossed Josh into the ring and went for the Chicken Wing, but Josh evaded and turned it into the anklelock. They went back and forth with counters. Still no referee.

Kazarian drilled Josh and his mouthpiece went flying. Kazarian nailed a Tomakaze but Josh kicked out at the last second. They battled to the apron. Kazarian teased hitting Alexander’s own finisher, the C4 Spike on the apron. Alexander escaped it but was drilled with a knee to the face. Alexander avoided a leg drop on the apron and nailed a crossbody through the ropes, driving Kazarian to the floor.

Back in the ring, Kazarian was caught in the anklelock, but Kazarian made it to the ropes. Kazarian went for a right hand but was caught with an exploder style suplex. Kazarian was placed on the ropes and chopped hard over and over by Alexander. Josh went for a superplex but they instead crash to the ring. Kazarian rebounded and hit Back to the Future for a two count. They continued battling back and forth. Kazarian nailed a slingshot cutter for a close two count.  He locked on an anklelock, but Alexander reversed it. Kazarian went for the ropes but was pulled away. Kazarian finally makes it to the ropes.

Kazarian and Josh battle. Kazarian nailed a big lariat and hits a Styles Clash for a close two count. They battled to the top where Alexander went for a C4 Spike off the top, but Kazarian back dropped him into the ring. Kazarian nailed a leg drop off the top for a two count and immediately snatched Josh into a Crossface Chicken Wing submission. Alexander fought his way out and ran up the buckles and pushed off, the Roddy Piper-Bret Hart Wrestlemania 8 finish, but Kazarian escaped and held onto the hold. Kazarian used a backslide for a two count. Alexander finally nailed the C4 Spike and scored the pin to retain the IMPACT World Championship.

Winner: “The Walking Weapon” Josh Alexander

After the match:  Kazarian took a long time to get up, then got in Alexander’s face. He went to leave but turned back around. He finally offered his hand and embraced Alexander, then raised his hand.  Kazarian exited.

Bully Ray came to the ring. He said that he just witnessed an incredible professional wrestling match. He said what we just saw is what professional wrestling is all about. He told Josh Alexander that he is the most credible World Champion out there right now. Ray challenged Josh to face him at Hard to Kill in January in Atlanta. Ray said that if Josh shakes his hand, that means Josh accepts. They shook on it.

As Josh left, Bully attacked him. He beat Alexander down with a steel chair as Josh’s wife yelled at him to stop. Bully zip tied him to the bottom rope and said, “I kept my word, didn’t I?  Let me ask you a question: why would you ever trust me?” He held up a chair to smash him, then threw it down to attack Josh’s wife. He pulled her over the ropes as she screamed for him to let her go. Alexander freed himself but Bully shoved him down and told him that if he moved, he would piledrive Josh’s wife on the concrete. He told Josh to hand him the World Championship belt. Josh handed him the belt and Bully raised it. He let Josh’s wife go. Josh grabbed her and embraced her as Bully walked off, then grabbed a steel chair. He told Josh if he moves, his wife is going to “eat this” and said he won’t miss from this range.  Bully walked off with the belt as Josh consoled his wife.
