Rage Report: Ladies and Gentlemen, Welcome to the newest edition of “The Rage Report” that is presented by The Domain: Gaming, Pop Culture & Entertainment!
My Guest at this time is a 20-year wrestling veteran and I am talking about Jay DeNiro!
Rage Report: First off, thank you for taking time out of your schedule to do this sit-down interview with me!
Jay DeNiro: No problem it’s my privilege.
Rage Report: When did you first discover wrestling and were you a fan growing up?
Jay DeNiro: I’ve been watching wrestling my whole life. Watched it with my grandfather, growing up and always loved it. As I got older, it was something that I always wanted to do just never knew how to get into it.
Rage Report: What was the moment that you decided that you wanted to become a professional wrestler?
Jay DeNiro: Like I said from around the time, I was 15-16 years old; I wanted to eventually be a wrestler. I just never knew how or where to go. When WCW was around, you had the power plant but for me that was so expensive there was no way I financially could do it. And then the opportunity to start training, kind of just fell into my lap.
Rage Report: Where did you train at and how difficult was it?
Jay DeNiro: I trained at ACW All-Star championship wrestling in Green Bay Wisconsin. Same school that Ken Anderson also known as Mr. Kennedy trained. Let me tell you difficult. It’s not the word. I’ve played sports growing up. I played semi pro football. I went to open tryouts and training to be a professional wrestler is the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my entire life.
Rage Report: Who or What is your biggest inspiration in wrestling?
Jay DeNiro: My inspiration is my son. He’s 22 years old. He’s a professional wrestler as well and seeing him develop and be 10 times the performer that I ever was is what inspires me to keep pushing and to keep doing this. I’m at a higher level now that I’m at OVW than I’ve ever been Not saying that there isn’t a higher level than I’m at, but for me and my journey I’m at the highest level that I’ve ever been at.
Rage Report: How did you hear about OVW, who got you in there and what was it like when Netflix was filming you along with fellow OVW wrestlers, staff, etc… for the “Wrestlers” documentary?
Jay DeNiro: I’ve always known about OVW from the early 2000s when they were WWE‘s developmental territory. Then my roommate and best friend TW3 was wrestling there and his riding partner from Green Bay wasn’t traveling anymore so I jumped in the car with him just to see it just to say I’ve been there just to say I’d walk the halls And at 6 foot five and 280 pounds I was told to get my license, and they would give me an opportunity perhaps. Started with a couple dark matches. Was given some goals to get my body in better shape and then DeNiro was born.
Rage Report: What is your favorite moment from a past rivalry?
Jay DeNiro: Taking Mr. Socko from Mick Foley!
Rage Report: What is your biggest feud in wrestling and why?
Jay DeNiro: I’ve had a couple feuds in my independent Wrestling, but my biggest feud hasn’t happened yet.
Rage Report: Who is your dream match/opponent and why?
Jay DeNiro: Never really thought about a dream opponent. Everyone wants to wrestle their favorite wrestler, but I have that opportunity. My favorite wrestler has always been “Road Dogg” Jesse James and I’ve been in the ring with him twice.
Rage Report: Who were some of your favorite wrestlers growing up and who are some of your current favorite wrestlers today?
Jay DeNiro: LA Knight, Roman Reigns and The Usos are probably my favorite currently.
Rage Report: What advice would you give someone who’s aspiring to get into the professional wrestling business?
Jay DeNiro: Anyone who wants to get in a professional wrestling I say go for it but make sure it’s a passion. It’s gotta be an obsession. It’s gotta be something that you don’t think you can continue without giving it a shot because if you don’t give it 110% it’s not worth it. You put your body through a lot. You put your family through a lot. You miss holidays wedding’s birthdays it’s a rough life.
Rage Report: Where can the fans see you LIVE at this month/next month?
Jay DeNiro: The fans can either see me on Tuesday Night’s for OVW Overdrive or Thursday Nights for OVW Rise as they’re both shown on YouTube at 7:00pm EST.
Rage Report: Where can the fans find you at on social media?
Jay DeNiro: All my socials, I can be found at Jay DeNiro.
Rage Report: Thank you, Jay, for doing this sit-down interview with me!
Jay DeNiro: No problem it’s been my pleasure anytime you want to reach out. Do an interview. Feel free to get a hold of me if you see a match that you want to talk about or go over I’m always available. Thank you everybody and hope to see you at OVW.
