Ring of Honor TV results from 03-02-2023

MATCH #1: One-On-One Match:
Mark Briscoe vs. Slim J
The match begins with Briscoe getting J in a headlock, J gets free, and Briscoe drops him with some Redneck Kung Fu. J leaves the ring before returning so Briscoe can work over his arm, J then hits Briscoe low while Sterling distracted the ref. Briscoe falls in the corner and J nails him with a series of strikes, Briscoe fights back and he nails J with a shoulder thrust to the midsection. Briscoe then uses the big boot to send J out of the ring, Briscoe then hits J with a drop kick while going through the ropes. Briscoe brings a chair into the ring and J pauses his suicide dive attempt, J returns to the ring and Briscoe nails him with some strikes. Briscoe places J on the top rope before landing more strikes, Sterling distracts Briscoe and that allows J to hit him with a top rope head kick. Briscoe fights back and J hits him with some arm trap clothesline smashes, J then hits Briscoe with a springboard reverse DDT for a near fall. J throws Briscoe out of the ring before distracting the ref, Daivari attacks Briscoe behind the ref’s back. Briscoe is thrown back in the ring so J can choke him in the corner; J stands Briscoe up before dropping him with a right.

J keeps Briscoe down while working over his arm, J transitions to a rear naked choke and Briscoe gets free after landing a snap mare. J recovers to drop Briscoe with an enziguri; J keeps Briscoe down while working over his arm once again. J transitions to a chin lock against the downed Briscoe, Briscoe gets free, and he cracks J with a few strikes. Briscoe then hits J with a corner clothesline followed by a basement drop kick, Briscoe follows up by hitting J with a neck breaker for a near fall. Briscoe goes for a suplex and J counters by landing a knee strike, Briscoe quickly recovers to hit J with a clothesline followed by a power bomb for a near fall. Briscoe then hits J with a Death Valley Driver before going to the top rope, J avoids a Froggy Bow and Briscoe still lands a big boot afterwards. Briscoe then hits J with a Jay Driller for a three count.

Winner: Mark Briscoe

BACKSTAGE: Lexy Nair is with Tony Deppen is and she asks Tony about facing ROH TV Champion Samoa Joe next week, Deppen reads a prepared statement saying that he will defeat Joe next week. Deppen says he can defeat Joe via submission with the STF or the chicken wing, Deppen says he knows all of Joe’s weak points to reclaim the ROH TV Championship.

MATCH #2: Tag Team Match:
Shawn Dean and Carlie Bravo vs. Mike Bennett and Matt Taven
The match begins with Bennett attacking Bravo from behind after a distraction from Maria, Bennett lands a few strikes on Bravo before tagging Taven in. Taven and Bennett double team Bravo for a short time, Bravo fights back and he tags Dean into the match. Dean and Bravo double team Taven before taking care of an interfering Bennett, Bravo tags back in and Taven eventually nails him with a drop kick. Bennett tags back in and Bravo fights back against both opponents, Bennett and Taven eventually get Bravo down for a near fall. Bennett then hits Bravo with a brain buster for another near fall, Taven tags back in and he nails Bravo with a head kick followed by a top rope elbow drop for a near fall. Bravo fights back and he manages to drop Taven with a leaping neck breaker, Bennett and Dean are tagged into the match. Dean quickly starts cleaning house against the opposing team, Dean traps Bennett in the corner before landing a leaping elbow smash. Dean tags in and he nails Bennett with a flapjack, Bravo tags in and he nails Bennett with a super kick after Taven gets Dean out of the ring. Taven then crotches Bravo on the top rope before Bennett lands the Proton Pack for a three count.

Winners: Mike Bennett and Matt Taven

BACKSTAGE: Lexy Nair is with Blake Christian who talks about seizing opportunities and making moments in ROH, Christian says he will make another moment by defeating Zack Sabre Jr. to win the NJPW World TV Champion. Sabre Jr. appears, and he talks about being the front man of TMDK, Sabre Jr. says Christian is about to face the best technical wrestler in the world.

MATCH #3: NJPW World TV Championship Match:
Zack Sabre Jr. © vs. Blake Christian
The match begins with Sabre Jr. dropping Christian momentarily while working over his arm, Christian recovers to hit Sabre Jr. with a fireman’s carry before rolling him up for a near fall. Sabre Jr. gets Christian down again before manipulating his arms, Christian gets up and Sabre Jr. pulls back on both of his arms. Christian gets free after nailing Sabre Jr. with an arm drag. Sabre Jr. trips up Christian before going back to work on his arm, Sabre Jr. gets up and he stomps on the bent arm of Christian. Christian gets up and Sabre Jr. drops him again before landing a rolling wrist lock, Sabre Jr. keeps Christian down while stomping on his injured arm. Christian fights back and Sabre Jr. headbutts him in the midsection, Christian recovers to hit Sabre Jr. with a shoulder tackle followed by a roll up for a near fall. Christian follows up by drop kicking Sabre Jr. out of the ring, Christian goes for a suicide dive and Sabre Jr. catches him in a cravate. Sabre Jr. traps Christian under the bottom rope before twisting his neck, Sabre Jr. stands Christian up before cracking him with European uppercuts. Christian fights back and Sabre Jr. drops him with another European uppercut, Sabre Jr. reapplies the cravate to Christian.

Christian gets free and he sends Sabre Jr. into the ropes before landing a 619, Christian then hits Sabre Jr. with a springboard cross body block. Sabre Jr. blocks a bog boot from Christian before eating a mule kick, Christian then hits Sabre Jr. with an Alabama slam before propelling him into the corner. Christian then hits Sabre Jr. with a release German suplex for a near fall, Sabre Jr. recovers and he gets Christian in a front headlock before landing a suplex. Sabre Jr. goes back to attacking Christian with some European uppercuts, Christian sends a charging Sabre Jr. to the ring apron before meeting him out there to land a spear. Sabre Jr. falls to the arena floor and Christian nails him with a suicide dive, Christian gets Sabre Jr. back in the ring before landing a springboard knee strike. Christian goes for a short arm clothesline and Sabre Jr. counters with a modified abdominal stretch. Christian eventually gets to the ropes to break the submission attempt; Sabre Jr. gets up and he attacks Christian with some kicks. Christian gets up and he nails Sabre Jr. with some strikes of his own, Sabre Jr. again attacks the injured arm of Christian. Christian fights back and he hits a charging Sabre Jr. with a standing Spanish fly for a near fall, Christian’s arm gives out on him, and Sabre Jr. immediately applies a Kimura Lock.

Christian recovers to hit Sabre Jr. with a Death Valley Driver followed by a thrust kick and brainbuster for a near fall, Sabre Jr. avoids a leaping Christian before eating a handspring enziguri. Sabre Jr. catches a leaping Christian before getting him in an Inverted Triangle Choke to force a tap out.

Winner: Zack Sabre Jr.

BACKSTAGE: Lexy Nair is with Konosuke Takeshita, Mark Sterling and Ari Daivari. Sterling says Takeshita won’t be facing Josh Woods tonight as planned, Sterling and Daivari try paying off Takeshita, so the match won’t happen, and Takeshita rips the contract up.

Christopher Daniels appears, and he talks about the origins of ROH and its rebirth, Daniels says he has a lot more to accomplish in ROH.

MATCH #4: One-On-One Match:
“Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels vs. Rohit Raju

The match begins with Raju backing Daniels into the corner before dropping him and stomping away on him, Raju drops Daniels again before landing a forearm smash for a near fall. Daniels goes to the ropes and Raju lands a few strikes before choking him on the middle rope, Daniels recovers to hit Raju with an arm drag followed by a leg lariat. Daniels backs Raju into the corner before landing a suplex for a near fall, Daniels stands Raju up while landing elbow strikes to his neck. Johl interferes and that allows Raju to knock Daniels out of the ring, Raju distracts the referee while Johl works over Daniels on the arena floor. Daniels gets tossed back in the ring so Raju can get a near fall on him; Raju drops Daniels again before landing a double stomp for a near fall. Raju mounts a downed Daniels before landing a few strikes, Daniels fights back and Raju drops him with multiple shoulder tackles. Raju gets Daniels in a headlock and Daniels drops him with a back suplex, Daniels drops Raju a few more times before landing an exploder suplex. Daniels goes for the Angels Wings and Raju gets free before landing a knee strike, Daniels avoids a leaping Raju before landing a uranage followed by the Best Moonsault Ever for a three count.

Winner: “Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels

Backstage: Lexy Nair is with Rhett Titus and Tracy Williams; Titus says the path remains the same from before and he wants to go to the mountaintop. Williams says ROH is what wrestling should be, Williams says their path is singular and they will restore honor to ROH. Aussie Open appears to confront Williams and Titus, Mark Davis says Aussie Open is the best tag team now and they challenge the duo of Williams and Titus to a match, and they accept.

MATCH #5: One-On-One Match:
Konosuke Takeshita vs. Josh Woods

The match begins with nobody gaining control during the initial lockup, Woods scores a takedown on Takeshita before a chain wrestling session begins. Takeshita gets up and he gets Woods in a headlock, Woods gets free and he trades shoulder tackles with Takeshita. Takeshita kicks Woods in the midsection before trading more shoulder tackles until Woods goes down, Takeshita traps Woods in the corner while landing some strikes. Woods fights back and he drops a leaping Takeshita on the top rope, Woods then hits Takeshita with a dead lift gut wrench suplex for a near fall. Woods traps Takeshita in the corner while landing shoulder thrusts, Woods follows up by hitting Takeshita with a knee strike to the midsection. Woods traps Takeshita in the ropes while landing some more strikes, Woods tries crushing Takeshita’s midsection on the middle rope before getting a near fall on him. Takeshita fights back and he rolls up Woods for a near fall, Takeshita follows up by dropping Woods with a flying clothesline. Takeshita then hits a cornered Woods with a boot to the face, Takeshita goes to the top rope and Woods knocks him off to the ring apron.

Woods goes to the ring apron with Takeshita before Takeshita drops him with a DDT on the hardest part of the ring, Takeshita gets Woods back in the ring before missing a springboard move. Takeshita still manages to hit Woods with a blue thunder bomb for a near fall, Woods fights back and he nails Takeshita with a springboard knee strike. Woods follows up by hitting Takeshita with a power bomb followed by a knee strike for a near fall, Woods goes to the top rope and Takeshita meets him up there after landing a big boot. Wood manages to get Takeshita off the ropes by landing a twisting superplex for a near fall, Woods then hits Takeshita with a leg trap suplex and Takeshita pops right back up to land a release German suplex. Takeshita and Woods both go down after landing simultaneous strikes, Takeshita sets up for a dragon suplex and Woods counters with a chaos theory attempt. Takeshita then hits Woods with multiple strikes before Woods catches him in a roll up, Takeshita then hits Woods with a Wheelbarrow German Suplex for a three count.

Winner: Konosuke Takeshita

BACKSTAGE: Lexy Nair interviews ROH World Champion Claudio Castagnoli, Castagnoli says he was born for situations like his match tonight against AR Fox. Castagnoli says nothing will spoil his Championship defense tonight.

MATCH #6: Six-Man Tag Team Match:
Brian Cage, Toa Liona and Kaun vs. Joe Keys, Rex Lawless and LSG

The match begins with Kaun getting Lawless on the arena floor before leveling him with an elbow strike, Liona gets Keys out of the ring before dropping him on the entrance ramp. Cage catches a leaping LSG before cornering him and landing shoulder thrusts, LSG fights back, and he hits Cage with a drop kick. Cage recovers and he press slams LSG into the turnbuckles, Kaun tags in and he corners LSG before landing a few strikes. Kaun places LSG on the top rope before landing a sidewalk slam on the top turnbuckle, Liona interferes, and he nails LSG with a senton. Cage tags in and he hits LSG with a deadlift suplex, The Embassy hit LSG with a Triple Power Bomb for a three count.

Winners: Brian Cage, Toa Liona and Kaun

MATCH #7: One-On-One Match:
Metalik vs. Ari Daivari

The match begins with Daivari going after the arm of Metalik, Metalik gets free, and he goes after the arm of Daivari. Metalik takes Daivari down with a headlock and Daivari gets to the ropes, Daivari again gets Metalik in a headlock and Metalik gets free before landing a shoulder tackle. Metalik then hits Daivari with a springboard arm drag, Metalik follows up by landing a bulldog on Daivari. Metalik then knocks Daivari out of the ring after landing a missile drop kick, Metalik leaves the ring and Slim J distracts him before Daivari sends him into the ring post. Daivari gets Metalik back in the ring before choking him on the middle rope, J interferes, and he chokes Metalik while the ref was distracted. Daivari then drops Metalik with a hard Irish whip into the corner; Daivari then hits Metalik with multiple knee drops for a near fall. Daivari keeps Metalik down while applying a chin lock to him, Metalik gets free and Daivari drops him with a back elbow strike for a near fall. Daivari grabs Metalik and he places him on the top rope before following him up there, Metalik knocks Daivari off the ropes before landing a top rope cross body block.

Metalik follows up by nailing Daivari with a tilt-a-whirl back breaker followed by a handspring elbow strike, Daivari leaves the ring and Metalik hits him with a dive from the top rope. Metalik gets Daivari in the ring before landing a springboard splash for a near fall, Daivari fights back, and he nails a leaping Metalik with a super kick. Daivari goes for a top rope something and Metalik gets out of the way before landing a super kick, J hits the ring while Sterling distracts the ref and Daivari accidentally takes J out. Metalik catches Daivari in a roll-up for another near fall; Daivari recovers to hit Metalik with an Arm Trap Clothesline for a three count.

Winner: Ari Daivari

BACKSTAGE: Lexy Nair is with AR Fox, who talks about first trying out for ROH a decade ago and not getting signed by the promotion. Fox talks about headlining tonight’s show and he warns Claudio Castagnoli that he is coming for the ROH World Championship.

MATCH #8: Women’s Tag Team Match:
Charlette Renegade and Robyn Renegade vs. Madison Rayne and Skye Blue

The match begins with Blue backing Robyn into the corner before being separated, Robyn backs Blue into the corner next before taunting her. Blue then hits Robyn with a hip toss followed by an arm drag; Blue traps Robyn into the corner before missing a charge and still managing to roll her up for a near fall. Rayne tags in and she works with Blue to double team Robyn for a near fall, Robyn backs Rayne into her corner before Charlette tags in. Charlette and Robyn double team a cornered Rayne, Charlette misses a charge in the corner and Rayne rolls her up for a near fall. Charlette fights back and Rayne hits her with a basement drop kick for a near fall, Blue tags in and she double teams Charlette alongside Rayne for a near fall. Charlette fights back and she hits Blue with a few strikes, Robyn interferes, and she kicks Blue right in the face. Robyn tags in and she works over a cornered Blue before landing a basement drop kick for a near fall, Charlette tags back in and she works with Robyn to attack Blue before Blue rolls them both up for a near fall. Robyn drops Blue before mounting her and landing some strikes, Blue then drops Robyn with an enziguri.

Rayne tags in and she starts cleaning house against both opponents, Rayne then hits Robyn with a rip cord cutter for a near fall. Rayne sets up for a spinning neck breaker and Robyn drops him with a Big Ending, Charlette tags in and she hits Rayne with a falcon arrow for a near fall. Everybody from both teams hit the ring and they all take each other out, Blue tags in and she hits Charlette with a springboard cross body block for a near fall. Blue then hits Charlette with Sky Fall for a three count.

Winners: Madison Rayne and Skye Blue

A video package airs hyping Dalton Castle.

Ian Riccaboni is in the ring, and he brings out ROH Pure Champion Wheeler Yuta, Yuta takes issue with being called the junior member of the Blackpool Combat Club because he is a champion. Yuta says he became a champion because he surrounded himself with some of the best wrestlers of all time, Yuta issues an open challenge for next week and Timothy Thatcher answers the challenge. Thatcher says Yuta knows who he is, and he isn’t a fan of talking, Thatcher says he is a fan of fighting, and he accepts the challenge for next week.

A video package airs hyping Samoa Joe.

MATCH #9: Women’s One-On-One Match:
Lady Frost vs. Willow Nightingale
The match begins with Nightingale backing Frost into the corner before being separated, Frost looks for a takedown and Nightingale gets free after landing a butt bump. Nightingale then drops a charging Frost with a shoulder block; Nightingale follows up by landing a shoulder tackle on Frost. Nightingale then hits a downed Frost with a cross body splash for a near fall; Nightingale also hits Frost with a few short arm clotheslines followed by a slam. Nightingale backs Frost into the corner before landing a chop, Frost fights back to hit Nightingale with a spinning neck breaker. Frost follows up by hitting Nightingale with a head scissors takedown before rolling her up for a near fall, Nightingale and Frost both go down after landing simultaneous head kicks. Nightingale gets up and she hits Frost with an avalanche followed by a thrust kick, Nightingale then hits Frost with a spine buster for a near fall. Frost fights back and she nails a cornered Nightingale with a head kick, Frost then hits Nightingale with a top rope moonsault for a near fall. Frost traps Nightingale in the corner before landing a corner spear, Nightingale catches a leaping Frost to land a gut wrench power bomb for a three count.

Winner: Willow Nightingale

After the match: Ian Riccaboni interviews Willow Nightingale. Riccaboni asks what is next for Nightingale and she talks about being in the original ROH, Nightingale says she has now won three in a row in ROH, and she wants a shot at the ROH Women’s World Championship. Athena makes her way onto the stage, and she tells Nightingale that she isn’t getting a shot at the ROH Women’s Championship, Athena then says she accepts the challenge, and she wants Nightingale to know that she is lucky enough to be in her division.

MAIN EVENT: ROH World Heavyweight Championship:
Claudio Castagnoli © vs. AR Fox
The match begins with Castagnoli backing Fox into the ropes before being separated; Castagnoli goes to work on the arm of Fox. Fox gets free and he goes to work on the arm of Castagnoli, Castagnoli gets Fox in a front headlock before getting him down for a pin attempt. Fox avoids a charging Castagnoli before tripping him up, Fox goes for a rolling suplex and Castagnoli avoids it. Fox then catches Castagnoli in a roll up before eating a European uppercut, Castagnoli then hits Fox with a slam followed by a leg drop for a near fall. Castagnoli gets Fox in the corner before taking him out, Castagnoli sets up for a Ricola Bomb and Fox escapes before landing a bulldog. Fox goes to the top rope and Castagnoli nails him with a drop kick, Castagnoli gets Fox off the ropes and Fox sends him into the ropes with a head scissors takedown. Fox goes for a springboard move and Castagnoli counters by attacking his knee, Castagnoli drags Fox to the ring apron before smashing him leg first onto the edge of the ring. Castagnoli then hits Fox with a gut wrench suplex for a near fall, Castagnoli keeps Fox down while briefly getting him in an ankle lock. Fox gets to the ropes and Castagnoli nails him with a plethora of stomp for a near fall, Castagnoli keeps Fox down while applying a chin lock to him.

Fox gets free and Castagnoli drops him with a gut wrench suplex, Castagnoli gets Fox in the corner before hitting him with a suplex. Castagnoli keeps Fox down while getting him in a single leg crab; Fox eventually gets to the ropes to break the submission. Castagnoli traps Fox under the ropes again before landing a few strikes, Castagnoli then hits Fox with a double stomp. Castagnoli keeps Fox down still while applying a chin lock to him, Fox gets free and Castagnoli lands strikes to his back. Fox manages to get Castagnoli in the ropes before landing some kicks followed by a leaping DDT, Fox avoids a clothesline from Castagnoli before landing an enziguri. Fox then hits Castagnoli with a cutter for a near fall, Fox then hits Castagnoli with a corner clothesline followed by a modified drop kick. Castagnoli leaves the ring and Fox takes him out with a suicide dive, Fox gets Castagnoli in the ring before landing a Swanton Bomb for a near fall. Castagnoli recovers and he manages to hit Fox with a big boot for a near fall, Fox recovers and he nails Castagnoli with an enziguri. Castagnoli recovers and he catches Fox in the big swing, Castagnoli releases the hold and Fox rolls out of the ring. Castagnoli goes after Fox and he gets Fox back in the ring before going to the top rope, Castagnoli then hits Fox with a top rope elbow drop for a near fall.

Castagnoli keeps Fox down before applying a Sharpshooter to him, Castagnoli transitions to a cross face and Fox counters with a roll up for a near fall. Fox then hits Castagnoli with a chin breaker before eating a lariat for a near fall, Castagnoli gets up and he gets Fox on the top rope before following him up there. Castagnoli nails Fox with a few headbutts before Fox gets free to land multiple enizguri’s, Fox gets Castagnoli off the ropes before landing a Death Valley Driver. Fox goes to the top rope, and he lands a 450 splash for a near fall, Fox looks for another hold and he has a striking exchange with Castagnoli. Fox ends the exchange by rolling Castagnoli up for a near fall, Fox goes for another springboard move and Castagnoli counters with a European uppercut for a three count.

Winner: Claudio Castagnoli

After the match: Eddie Kingston makes his way to the ring to confront Claudio Castagnoli. Kingston says he is an independent contractor, and he says he will beat his butt in ROH, Castagnoli says nothing, and he decides to head backstage.
