Tonight’s Roadblock go-home edition of WWE NXT opens up LIVE on the USA Network with Vic Joseph welcoming us, and he’s joined at ringside by WWE Hall of Famer Booker T. We immediately see a big brawl backstage with Drew Gulak, Charlie Dempsey, Hank Walker, Axiom, Edris Enofe, Malik Blade, Dabba-Kato, and others. NXT North American Champion Wes Lee waits in the ring to kick off his Open Challenge, watching the brawl on the big screen. The brawl spills out to the entranceway but Kato breaks through everyone. Apollo Crews suddenly leaps in from the side to take Kato down, and now they brawl. The returning Nathan Frazer suddenly comes flying in from the back, jumping over the others. Frazer rushes to the ring and faces off with Lee to a pop.

MATCH #1: One-On-One Match:
Trick Williams vs. Ilja Dragunov
We go right to the ring for tonight’s opener and out comes Trick Williams. Trick says he came to prove that he can do more than talk, he can back-up every word he says. He calls his opponent out, but the crowd is giving him the “What?!” treatment. Trick talks some more trash and out next comes Ilja Dragunov as Alicia Taylor does the introductions.

Trick drops Ilja during his entrance with a cheap shot. The bell hits and an angry Ilja attacks, taking Trick down. Ilja with a stiff kick. Trick takes it to the corner, but the referee warns him. Ilja rocks Trick with stiff strikes, then applies a headlock.

MATCH #1: One-On-One Match:
Grayson Waller vs. Tyler Bate
We go right to the ring and out comes Grayson Waller from his one-week suspension. Tyler Bate is out next as Alicia Taylor does the introductions. We see Jacy Jayne arriving to the building.

The bell rings and Bate charges but Waller rocks him. Waller beats Bate around as fans do dueling chants. Waller chokes Bate on the middle rope and taunts WWE Hall of Famer & Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative Shawn Michaels in the camera. Bate fights back with chops.

The post-Vengeance Day edition of WWE NXT opens up on the USA Network with a video of highlights from last Saturday’s big Premium Live Event from Charlotte, NC. We’re now LIVE from the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida as Vic Joseph welcomes us and shows us footage of Bayley arriving earlier today. She’s wearing a sling on her arm, and she doesn’t look happy following last night’s RAW Steel Cage loss to Becky Lynch. Vic is joined at ringside by WWE Hall of Famer Booker T.

We go right to the ring and out comes Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams as Alicia Taylor does the introductions. They strut to the ring and Trick takes the mic, calling for the music to be cut.

Trick talks them up and takes a shot at Apollo Crews for the 2 of 3 Falls loss. Hayes takes the mic and goes to deliver his “Melo Is…” catchphrase but Trick keeps interrupting him. “Melo In… 2!” he says, and they laugh. The bell rings and they lock up as fans chant for Lee. Dijak shoves him back. Dijak tells Lee to just give up now. Lee applies a headlock now. Dijak fights out and levels Lee with a stiff shoulder. Dijak talks some more trash as Lee looks on.

Fans rally for Lee and he baits Dijak in for a kick to the face. Lee uses his speed to evade, then he sends Dijak into the corner with scissors. MATCH #1: Tag Team Match:
Julius Creed and Brutus Creed vs. Sanga and Veer Mahaan
We go right to the ring for tonight’s opener as The Creed Brothers come out first with Ivy Nile – Julius Creed and Brutus Creed. Out next comes Indus Sher with Jinder Mahal – Sanga and Veer Mahaan.

The bell rings and Julius starts off with Veer. They collide with shoulders early on and talk some trash. They trade blocks and then unload on each other with big strikes. Veer knocks Creed into the corner. Sanga tags in, as does Brutus. They lock up and go at it now. Sanga clubs Brutus down but misses in the corner. Sanga fights out of the corner, but Brutus catches a kick.

Out next comes Apollo Crews as Alicia Taylor does the introductions. Crews is all smiles as he hits the ring and poses in the corner while Hayes and Williams look on from the corner.

Axiom and Trick go at it to start. Axiom works on the arm but Trick winds Axiom’s arm up to turn it around. Axiom with a dropkick. Trick locks up and goes into the ropes but the referee warns him. Axiom dodges a big right but Trick then drops him with a shoulder.

The WWE NXT New Year’s Evil special opens up with a Chase University segment. Andre Chase welcomes his students to a NEW semester, where everyone gets a second chance. Chase says tonight’s homework is to watch New Year’s Evil. Chase goes over tonight’s matches. Chase dismisses a student for bringing negative energy around Thea Hail, who has the biggest match of her career tonight in the 20-Woman Battle Royal. Hail doubts herself but Chase believes in her and says she has the heart; Chase U believes she can do it. Hail gets hyped up as a “Thea!” chant breaks out.
