Hard To Kill results from 01-13-2023

Kickoff Match #1: Six-Man Scramble Match:
Angels vs. Yuya Uemura vs. Mike Jackson vs. Delirious vs. “Speedball” Mike Bailey vs. KUSHIDA
Delirious has replaced the previously announced Bhupinder Gujjar. Angels attacked KUSHIDA and Bailey, but Jackson nailed him, and they battled on the floor. Yuya controlled KUSHIDA inside the ring. Bailey hit a big moonsault on everyone to the floor. Jackson hit a big tope on everyone. They put over that he was 73 years.  Back in the ring, Angels began nailing suplexes. Jackson nailed a Divorce Court and called for Old School. He walked the top rope on each side as everyone battled in the ring. He finally nailed a bodypress into the ring onto everyone and covered Angels for a two count.

Angels caught Jackson with a suplex. Delirious nailed a Chokenstein into a Boston Crab. Bailey gained control of the ring, nailing a flurry of karate kicks. Yuya nailed KUSHIDA with an Uranage. Bailey went to the top for Ultima Weapon, but Kenny King emerged from the crowd and shoved him off the top. Angels worked over Yuya and was going to come off the top but everyone else grabbed him. KUSHIDA nailed a kick to take them out, then took Angels off the top and cinched in the Hoverboard Lock for the submission.

Winner: KUSHIDA

They aired a video piece on Bully Ray vs. Josh Alexander in Full Metal Mayhem for the IMPACT World Championship.

Kickoff Main Event: IMPACT X-Division Championship Match:
Trey Miguel © vs. Black Taurus
Crazzy Steve made the Jason Voorhees noises since it was Friday the 13th. He said the winds of change were among us and they start with Taurus winning the X-Division Championship.

Miguel had a very aggressive, angry pace early on. He smothered Taurus in the corner with his boot. Taurus was sent to the floor.  Miguel went for a dive but was caught. He turned it into a hurricanrana, sending Taurus into the ring post. Miguel went back to the top and went for a Meteroa in the ring but was caught and beaten by Taurus. The luchador used a sling blade but was caught with an enziguri to the back of the neck. Miguel choked him against the ropes, trying to wear down Taurus.

Miguel continued to control Taurus until being caught on the shoulders and dropped for an attempted Samoan Drop but still avoided most of it. The competitors battled and chopped each other. Miguel drilled Taurus in the face, enraging him. Taurus battled back with some hard chops. Miguel charged down the ramp and hit a springboard into the ring but was caught again the shoulders, being smashed with a Samoan Drop. The Atlanta fans did back and forth chants. Miguel came back with a series of kicks and began showboating, allowing Taurus to rise up and attack him.

Miguel was pinballed all over the ring. Taurus hit an EVIL looking over the knee’s backbreaker for a two count. Miguel went for a rana on the floor. Taurus went for a powerbomb but was caught with a sunset flip into a Code Red on the floor. Taurus was dumped back into the ring and hit with the Meteroa for a close two count. They battled to the top where Taurus nailed a press slam into the ring for another two count.

Miguel went under the ring and grabbed a can of spray paint, but the referee took it away. While it was being disposed of, Taurus grabbed him for Hellhole, but Trey pulled out another can of spray paint and sprayed him in the face. Blinded, Taurus was nailed with the Lightning Spiral and pinned.

Winner: Trey Miguel

The announcers ran down the PPV lineup.

The roster assembled on the entrance stage as they paid tribute to Don West with a ten bell salute and announced that the show was dedicated to his memory. They roster was wearing “DW” stickers.

They then went into the official PPV opening video.

MATCH #1: Full Metal Mayhem Match for the IMPACT World Championship:
“Walking Weapon” Josh Alexander © vs. Bully Ray
Ray made his entrance and then disappeared. He hid out somewhere and attacked Alexander with a steel chain from behind on the ramp. He grabbed the IMPACT World Championship belt and smashed Alexander with it. He was busted open and beaten. Ray set up a table and powerbombed him through it for a two count right after the bell. Ray used a cheese grater. Alexander fired back and then drilled him with the grater. The crowd chanted for Alexander. Ray was now busted open.

Ray mauled Ray with the grater, busting him open even more. The crowd chanted, “You sick fuck.” Alexander went under the ring for a bag of thumbtacks. They battled up the aisle, where Alexander choked him with a chair and pulled a ladder over. Alexander climbed the ladder to perform a move, but Ray recovered a tipped the ladder backwards towards the ring, with Alexander taking a big bump into the ring onto the thumbtacks.

Ray went for the Bully Bomb, but Alexander blocked it. He nailed a German suplex into the tacks and even took his straps down.  Alexander hit a rolling senton and grabbed the steel chain. He wrapped it around his knee and drilled Ray with a knee strike off the ropes. He locked in an anklelock with Ray on the tacks. He wrapped the chair around Ray’s neck, but John Skyler and Jason Hotch hit the ring and attacked him. They assisted Bully, helping him hit a 3D on the tacks but Josh kicked up. They ziptied Josh to the ropes but Tommy Dreamer came out and laid out Hotch and Skyler. He faced off with Ray, who wielded a trash can. Dreamer teased that he was aligning with Ray but instead smashed him with the trash can. Ray speared Dreamer through a table in the corner.

Alexander tried to bite his way through the zipties, but Ray told him to just give up. Alexander said he never would. Ray smashed him across the top of the head with the trash can. Alexander pulled himself up, but Ray smashed him over the head again with the trash can. Bully was distracted by something. It was Alexander’s wife, who hit the ring and told him to stop. Ray teased smashing her with the can, but she dropped to her knees. He told her to beg him and that he wanted to see tears. He told her to hand over her wedding ring. She refused, so he was going to smash her, allowing him to be nailed in the groin with a low blow, she nailed an Acid Drop on Ray.

Josh’s wife cut him free from the zipties. She tossed a chair at Ray, who caught it, and Josh smashed him with another one. Josh placed Ray atop a table and climbed to the top of a ladder. He nailed a massive frog splash through a table, but Ray kicked out. Josh locked the anklelock and Ray held on but finally tapped out for Alexander to retain the IMPACT World Championship.

Winner: “Walking Weapon” Josh Alexander

BACKSTAGE: Tara is with Mickie James. James said that her career was on the line, and it was sold out and the main event. Tara told her she always delivers, and the fans love her. Tara told her she loved her and no matter what she’s proud of her. Raven said that he was there for the beginning for Mickie, and he doesn’t think it will be the end, but if it is, he wanted to be here for it and gave her a hug.

MATCH #2: Fatal Four-Way Elimination Match for IMPACT World Tag Team Championships:
Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley © vs. Matt Cardona and Brian Myers vs. Heath and Rhino Ace Austin and Chris Bey
They all fought before the bell before the referee calmed the waters.  Myers and Heath started officially. The Major Players caught him in their corner and tagged in and out, working him over and scoring several near falls. Rhino tagged in and nailed a big belly to belly suplex but the pinfall was broken up. They double-teamed Rhino and rolled him up, eliminating Heath and Rhino. Bey rolled up Cardona, almost pinning him.

Bey continued the beatings, nailing a double stomp but Myers distracted him, allowing Cardona to nail a belly to back suplex. Myers officially tagged in and nailed a big suplex for a two count. Ace and Myers battled outside and back into the ring. Austin showed some damn awesome physical spots and timing. Shelley caught Austin with a Dragon Screw Legwhip. There were damn great sequences with Bullet Club and the Players before Myers was eliminated. It’s down to the Guns vs. The Club. The Machine Guns began hitting all their signature spots on Bey. They even whipped out a Magic Killer, but it was broken up. They batte back and forth and the Guns scored the pin on Bey with the Dirt Bomb.

Winners: Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley

After the match: Frankie Kazarian came out and made his way to the ring after the Guns left the ring. The crowd chanted for him. He said that he hopes the fans were as happy to see him as he was to see them. It was great to be back in Atlanta. All day, he’s had a few things on his mind. Last year, he had the chance to come back to IMPACT and he fought for the X-Division and the World Championships. He said he went back home, and he was among “strangers he thought were his friends.” He said that he learned a long time ago that if you don’t stand up for yourself, no one else do. He said he could make the decision to be complacent or bet on himself and walk away. He said the fans don’t have to wait long to find out and announced he signed a long-term contract with IMPACT Wrestling. He said it’s a long way to the top if you want to rock and roll. He said he will rise to the top of IMPACT Wrestling and that Kazarian was back home.

MATCH #3: IMPACT Digital Media Championship Match:
Joe Hendry © vs. Moose
There is Atlanta Falcons sitting at ringside who Moose played with. Moose slapped the mic out of Hendry’s hands when he went to cut a promo.  Hendry slapped Moose. They battled. Hendry nailed a powerslam for a two count and hit a delayed vertical suplex but Moose popped right back up. They had a nice intensity to their work. Moose was tossed to the floor in a big power spot. Moose nailed a Sky High for a two count.

They battled to the top, where they battled over a superplex attempt. Moose was headbutt back into the ring but jumped back up and nailed the superplex. They were almost counted out on the mat but returned to their feet and beat the ten count. They battled back and forth.  Moose used a backslide for a two count. Moose rolled him up. Moose went for a spear, but Hendry avoided it and rolled him up for a two count. He nailed a big clothesline that sent Moose inside out. He nailed a powerbomb for another two count.

Hendry went for the Standing Ovation, but Moose blocked and struck with a Uranage for a two count. He nailed another but again, only a two count. Moose went to ringside and grabbed the Digital Media Championship belt. He brought it into the ring, but it was taken away, but the distraction allowed Moose to nail a low blow and a Spear for the win.

Winner and NEW IMPACT Digital Media Champion: Moose

After the match: Out came Santino Marella, who is the new Director of Authority. He was doing the full-on WWE character. He said Impact had plans to have a big band, confetti cannons and even release Falcons in the Arena, but he saw what Moose just did and that’s disgusting. He doesn’t like cheaters and as his first act, he’s going to restart the match. He ordered the referee to ring the bell.

They restarted the match and Hendry nailed the Standing Ovation for the pin and to retain the Championship.

Winner: Joe Hendry

After costing Mike Bailey his match on Countdown to Hard To Kill earlier tonight, Kenny King declares victory in the no-ropes Pit Fight this Thursday.

MATCH #4: Knockouts Fatal Four-Way Match:
(Winner will challenge for Knockouts Championship)
Masha Slamovich vs. Deonna Purrazzo vs. Taylor Wilde vs. Killer Kelly
Masha went right after Wilde and clotheslined her over the top to the floor, where they battled. Kelly and Purrazzo battled in the ring.  Deonna tried to retreat to the floor but was tossed back in. Masha pulled Kelly out of the ring to the floor, and they slugged it out, but Deonna slid outside with a kick that took them both out. Wilde nailed a tope on them, but Deonna avoided it and went to the top, hitting a dive to the floor. Masha then went to the top and hit a flip dive from the top to the floor.

Back in the ring, everyone kept going for big moves. Deonna locked on a single-leg crag. Wilde grabbed the other leg and cinched in a crab as well. Masha came back and nailed them with kicks. She and Kelly battled back and forth with the idea they each liked the other kicking the crap out of them. Kelly nailed a big German suplex on Masha. Wilde hit one of her own on Kelly who responded with some big shots. Deonna nailed a big powerbomb on Taylor. She went for the Queen’s Gambit, but Masha broke it up. Kelly nailed Wilde with a Death Valley Driver as Masha dragged Deonna out of the ring.

Kelly locked on the Killer Clutch, but Deonna got involved. Deonna locked her in the armbar. Wilde kicked Kelly in the face, but Kelly absorbed it and locked on the Killer Klutch. Wilde locked a Crossface on Deonna. Masha caught Taylor with the Snow Plow onto the pile and scored the pin.

Winner: Masha Slamovich

MATCH #5: Falls Count Anywhere Match:
Steve Maclin vs. Rich Swann
Raven joined the announcers on commentary. They went backstage to Gia Miller interviewing Swann. Maclin attacked him and they started brawling. The referee called for the bell, and they brawled out of the building to the loading bay area. Swann was sent into a dumpster. Maclin charged but Swann moved, and Maclin was sent into the dumpster. Maclin nailed him with some garbage from the dumpster and nailed him with some hard pieces of wood. Maclin covered him outside on the loading ramp for a two count.

They brawled out onto the street, where Swann hit a cutter. Raven said it would be awesome if they got hit by a car – nice guy! Swann drilled him with some construction cones. They battled into the parking lot entrance, where a car was pulling out. Maclin slammed Swann into the hood of the car and then speared him through some barricades that were to the side of the lot. He covered Swann for a two count. They battled back towards the dumpster, where Swann nailed him with a shovel and scored a two count.

Swann ripped his face into some fencing. They battled into the arena and fought at ringside. Maclin sent Swann into the ring, but Swann hit the ropes and bounced back into a spear, sending Maclin to the barricade. Back in the ring, Swann hit a big dropkick that sent Maclin across the ring. Maclin fought back and nailed the Crosshairs for a two count. They fought to the floor, where Swann used cables to choke Maclin while also putting on a half nelson. They fought back into the ring, where Swann nailed a running kick to the back of the head. Maclin backdropped him over the top to the entrance ramp, which looked like a painful bump, then covered him for a two count. They fought around ringside. Swann hit a cutter off the apron to the floor. They fought up the aisle to the stage. Maclin was knocked to the floor and hit with a flip from the entrance. Maclin came back with a running Liger Bomb on the floor. Maclin slammed a metal door from the barricade into Swann’s head and drilled him with the KIA, scoring the pinfall victory.

Winner: Steve Maclin

After the match: Raven said he had a tear in his eye because he loved the violence.

MATCH #6: One-On-One Match:
Jonathan Gresham vs. Eddie Edwards
The crowd was giving Edwards all sorts of grief. They locked up and early on it was back and forth wrestling until Edwards started to pull his heel antics. Gresham was able to toss him to the floor and nailed a dive to the outside. Edwards chopped the hell out of him. He charged but Gresham armdragged him on the floor. Back inside the ring, Gresham nailed several inverted atomic drops and an overhead belly to belly suplex.

They went back and forth with some good grappling with Edwards hitting some powerslams and similar moves to try and ward off Gresham’s scientific acumen. Edwards arrogantly and mockingly slapped him, but Gresham slapped back. Edwards drilled him hard, and Jonathan went down. They continued to go back and forth with some damn good wrestling, and you could hear the live crowd was with them all of the way. Gresham kept working on the arm. Just a very old school bout as they beat and worked over each other. This was dramatically different from everything else on the show.

Edwards nailed the Blue Thunder Bomb. Gresham kicked out. Eddie drove him into buckles and went for the Backpack stunner, but his arm was worn down and Gresham cinched in a submission. Eddie went to the floor, where Gresham nailed a dive. Gresham went to the top but was crotched on the top. They battled on the top. Gresham locked on a sleeper. Eddie dropped down and Gresham smashed jaw-first into the top buckle.

Gresham ducked the Boston Knee Party and was caught in a Dragon suplex for a two count. Edwards nailed an inverted slam and a big powerbomb for a sit-out pinfall attempt. They went into a series of near falls. Gresham was drilled with a big elbow strike that sent him inside out for a two count. Edwards nailed the Boston Knee Party and scored the pin.

Winner: Eddie Edwards

After the match: The lights went out and there was lots of thunder and lightning echo throughout Center Stage as PCO appears in the ring. PCO attacks Edwards with the shovel that Edwards used to bury him in the Las Vegas desert. PCO lays him out with the chokeslam and stands tall.

MAIN EVENT: IMPACT Knockouts World Championship Match:
(IF Mickie does not win, she must retire)
Jordynne Grace © vs. Mickie James
James’s family, including her parents, are in the front row. They had Native American dancers for James’ ring entrance. They made it a big deal. Tara was crying in the front row as they started the bout.

They had some nice back and forth wrestling early. It started to get heated for Mickie slapped Grace several times. Grace finally fired back with a thick one that sent Mickie to the mat. It began to tell the story of Mickie’s finesse and experience vs. Grace’s sheer power and might. James nailed the Thesz Press for a two count. Grace took control and began beating down James’ back. James was sent to the top. Grace met her and they battled with James nailing a bulldog off the top into the ring. Mickie was too short to capitalize, and they were almost counted out on the mat.

Mickie and Grace got to their feet. James used a series of kicks to take her down. She went to the top. James grabbed her arm and did the Old School walk and dove off, driving Grace off the apron to the entrance ramp. They battled back to the ring; where Grace held James up for a delayed vertical superplex and held on to nail the Jackhammer for a near fall.

Grace went for the Grace Driver, but James countered. She was sent into the buckles but fought back and nailed a Flapjack. They battled back and forth until Grace slammed her with authority with a big spinebuster for a close two count. Grace went for a tombstone, but James reversed it. Mickie went for the Mick Kick but was caught and driven into the buckles. James escaped a Muscle Buster and used a backslide. They went into a series of reversals and pinfall attempts. Mickie went for the DDT but was nailed with a backfist. James turned a Grace Driver attempt into a small package for a two count. James hit the DDT, but Grace kicked up at the very last second.

They battled back and forth but Grace snatched her into a rear naked choke out of a pinfall attempt. James rolled over and turned it into a pinfall attempt for a two count. Grace locked on another rear naked choke. James fought for the ropes but was pulled back to the center of the ring. James was fading but surged with energy after her arm dropped twice. Grace drove her into the buckles several times. James shoved her into the ring post shoulder-first and nailed a tornado DDT for the pin.

Winner and NEW Knockouts World Champion, Mickie James

After the match: Tara entered the ring and hugged James. James’s son Donovan entered the ring and celebrated with her, along with her parents and other family members as the pay-per-view ends.
